Greely Sand & Gravel

I'm very unhappy with the quality of the Topdressing Soil which, to be fair, Greely S & G says "isn't guaranteed weed free". You can say that again. We topdressed our backyard with about 4 of the 6 yards delivered and the balance went to a bit in the front and some to the neighbours. We all have a crabgrass and weed infestation like we've never seen before. I've found 2 kinds of crabgrass and about 3 other kinds of weeds which crowd out any grass. After hand pulling most of the weeds, my backyard is more dirt than it is lawn. That's not an exaggeration. So now I have to wait until fall to plant seed and locate some good, composted soil. Never, ever, ever again. I don't understand how this company is on the Homestars list with all the negative reviews.

HE DRIVER TORE UP MY DRIVEWAY TODAY!!!!!!
We have used them several times with excellent service this year. This time it was horrible!!!
They said they call when they are loading and on their way. The driver called to say on their way at 1:44 pm and then called again at 2:04 to say they are in the driveway. The normal time for them to arrive is about 30-33 minutes.
Four deliveries this year and always the same.
I haven't done grade one math in a long time but that is far from 30 minutes from the yard to our home.
From the track marks it looks like the driver drove in adjusted his tires on the driveway and drove out and came back again. Then he drove over the side and did the same thing!!!!

Called the office to let them know and the attitude was oh well! Not our problem.Horrible service!!

UPDATE:
The truck was seen by a person at the home and a neighbor coming onto the property and then going off and stopping at the end of the driveway.
The truck had not yet been given permission to DUMP OR COME ONTO THE PROPERTY. The driver came onto the property did a dry turn on the driveway. BEFORE speaking to anyone.
When the gentlemen saw the damage BEFORE giving permission to DUMP. He asked whats this and the driver replied. OH its soft.
Dispatch should have said if its too hot out to dump a load.
The driver NEVER mentioned before coming onto the driveway there maybe damage due to the heat. The driver already caused the damage before unloading.

THERE WAS NO REASON FOR THE DRIVER TO DRIVE THAT FAR ONTO THE DRIVEWAY .. the area that was needed to dump was close to the entrance he proceeded into the circle area of the driveway which he had no business going that far!!!

The office was called immediately when this happened and was told to it happens. Spoke to a manager who said there is nothing he can do.

This company takes payment before the dump and there is no recourse when they cause property damage. So they basically hold you hostage. They are paid and they don't care. The reply you see below is from the owner of the company.

When dispatch is told to let you know when he will be there and you say you will meet them there it does not give them permission to come onto the property.

have made two attempts to call and speak to a person about this and the first thing that comes out of the persons mouth is that we don't have any responsibility from the curb.
i tried to explain what happened and how the driver drove 30 feet onto the property more than he needed to and did a dry turn to back up and was basically told that it happens

Thank you for the opportunity to discuss this further but it was a total waste of my time. You have all the contact info to call and discuss. Also you know the address and haven't even come out to see the damage to understand what happened.

Purchase of sod from Greely Sand & Gravel
when trying to figure out how much sod you need make sure you use meter measures. I used feet I ended up ordering a skid to much and called the same night and left and message. No response called back again next morning and spoke with the owner who said we do not take sod back after 24 hours which it wasn't when i called. He then hung the phone up on me. The employee who delivered the sod was great but not the owner/manager. Worst customer service ever. worst customer service ever

These are the words to describe my experience with Greely Sand and Gravel. It is a constant challenge as a young woman and first time home owner to be treated with dignity and respect in many of the traditionally male dominated areas, such as trying to order construction materials. When turning to a website to order construction materials I would like to trust that a company's website is honest and accurate. Greely Sand and Gravel's website contained incorrect product information which lead to a misinformed purchase. When contacted and confronted about the wrong information contained on their website, instead of acknowledging their website was incorrect and treating me with dignity and respect Greely Sand and Gravel adamantly denied any misinformation and refused to honor the integrity of their product without charging an exorbitant fee. What makes this entire situation even more shameful is that shortly after my phone conversation alerting Greely Sand and Gravel to the misinformation posted on their website for this product, within a few short minutes the description was altered; they had removed any trace of evidence of the wrong information. Clearly, Greely Sand and Gravel recognized the information on their website was wrong and misleading and that they were in the wrong. Proceed with caution if you choose to order products from this company.

Ordered three truckloads of gravel for my driveway last summer and was very satisfied. It was delivered promptly by a courteous driver. I will be using their products/services again without any hesitation.

I can not say enough positive things about this service. I am a homeowner in an urban neighborhood, backyard projects are always tough because where do you put the junk after? What makes this product so great is the ease and simplicity of the whole process...

Order what you need online (the tools they have to calculate amount needed were super helpful), schedule when you want it dropped off... then just fill up the bags with your junk and they come pick it up. Couldn't be easier and more convenient if they tried.

But what makes this service head and shoulders above the rest is the customer service. I made the mistake of over-filling my disposal bag (note: consider getting an extra disposal bag, there's more waste coming out than you think!) but their customer service and delivery driver staff were so kind and helpful. I will use Greely again and would recommend to anyone looking for such a service.

Ordered 8 yards of topsoil to be split 3 (for me) and 5 (for my friend) and received 4 and 4 (paid extra $50 for delivery to the second place). Rude response from the company when I called them, told me that I ordered 4 and 4; they did not care that they made a mistake.

I ordered mulch and topsoil on behalf of our neighbourhood school, D. Roy Kennedy P.S. Where the company really shone was in service: I had ordered from Greely S&G before and this load of mulch seemed too coarse, especially for children at a school to handle. Within an hour of my call, the president of the company phoned me back. They had checked on their mulch supply and determined it wasn't correct, spoken with their supplier (who had accidentally used the wrong grinder), and immediately offered to pick up the mulch or provide a refund. We chose the refund and the cheque was in the mail the next day. They had also cheerfully accommodated our complicated delivery request. I was very impressed with the service provided by Mr. Gilles Laplante in particular, and would highly recommend the company.

My wife and I have been purchasing our topsoil and compost from Greely Sand & Gravel for many years. We find that, not only are their prices very competitive, but their service is exceptional, from the cheerful person answering the phone to the delivery drivers who take care to place the material where you want it, without damaging your lawn. We have recommended Greely Sand & Gravel to all of our friends and neighbours.

I have had 2 deliveries of 2 cubic yard bags of topdressing soil over the past 8 months from Greely Sand & Gravel. Ordering by phone was a pleasant experience with a very courteous employee. Both deliveries were on time by 2 different boom truck drivers that were extremely pleasant and accommodating as to where the bags would be dropped in my backyard from the street behind my property. The soil delivered in the first 2 bags was excellent. I anticipate the 2 bags delivered yesterday will be the same.
