Hi Arya,
Sorry to hear that you had trouble with the furnace condensate pump.
I don’t have any client in my database by the name of Arya, so it’s difficult for me to identify which inspection this may have been, but I will try to address your concern anyway.
Based on the photo, it’s quite obvious that the issue is a condensate pump attached to the furnace. This pump may fail at any time due to being clogged periodically and requires regular maintenance. The floor drain of a house may be located anywhere in the basement and not always in the furnace room. And furthermore if the basement is finished, the floor drain may be hidden under tiles, laminate, or hardwood flooring.
It also appears that something was bolted to the floor beside the furnace and recently removed.
Please give me a call so I can get a better understanding of which property this is and to better address your concern.
Best Regards,

Hi Sandeep. I originally had trouble identifying you because you used an anonymous name.
Since our telephone conversation in which you revealed your identity, I now have your file in front of me.
Firstly, THERE WAS NO FLOOD AT THE TIME OF INSPECTION, and furthermore YOUR OWN PHOTOS DO NOT SHOW A FLOOD, also YOUR PHOTOS DO NOT MATCH THE INSPECTION PHOTOS. Please click on this link to see the photo at the time of inspection https://drive.google.com/file/d/1SAcI-NWI4FnnDZ20DQcLzhZNekKP6I6p/view?usp=sharing
Your photos show a bucket full of water, which obviously did not come from the furnace.
Your photo shows two holes that were drilled in the floor beside the furnace. THESE HOLES WERE NOT THERE AT THE TIME OF THE INSPECTION as you can see in the inspection photo. Its quite clear that this is a case of DIY RENOVATION GONE WRONG and you are simply attempting to blame a home inspector who has nothing to do with DAMAGE THAT YOU HAVE CAUSED.As for plumbing issues, NUMEROUS PLUMBING DEFECTS WERE MENTIONED including the following to mention a few
1. SEVERAL TOILETS THAT WERE LOOSELY MOUNTED AND COULD LEAK ANYTIME
2. SINKS AND SHOWERS HAD SLOW DRAINS WHICH INDICATED SERIOUS VENTING AND DRAINAGE ISSUES
3. LOOSELY ATTACHED FAUCETS THAT COULD LEAK ANYTIME
4. MISSING CAULKING IN THE SHOWERS WHICH COULD LEAD TO WATER DAMAGE
5. Other plumbing issues which required urgent attentionTHE SAFETY OF YOUR TENANTS IS AT RISK due to basement bedroom windows that are TOO SMALL AND TOO HIGH FOR EMERGENCY ESCAPE IN THE EVENT OF A FIRE. You indicated that you have not addressed this issue and proceeded to rent out your basement regardless of the risk your tenants may face.
There are ELECTRICAL ISSUES in the panel and several outlets which pose a risk of ELECTRIC SHOCK and a FIRE HAZARD.
There were NUMEROUS FOUNDATION ISSUES such as cracks, a crumbling foundation and evidence of prior repairs.
THERE WAS MOLD IN THE ATTIC WHICH COULD LEAD TO STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS WITH YOUR ROOF.
THE ATTIC INSULATION WAS INSUFFICIENT AND COMPRESSED.
There were serious issues with the exterior of the house such as CRACKS ON THE BRICK WALL which could lead to water damage. THE BRICK WALL WAS BELOW GRADE which could cause serious MOISTURE DAMAGE.
The WOODEN DECK IS UNSAFE as it was MISSING SUPPORT COLUMNS and the joists were UNSAFELY ATTACHED to the ledgerboard which was IMPROPERLY ATTACHED TO THE BRICK WALL.THERE WAS A DRAINAGE ISSUE mentioned regarding the grading of the land around the house.
THE DRYER DID NOT VENT TO THE EXTERIOR, which can cause serious moisture and mold issues.
The KITCHEN EXHAUST DID NOT VENT TO THE EXTERIOR. This can cause moisture, mold and CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING if you use a gas appliance for cooking.THERE WERE SERIOUS ISSUES WITH THIS HOUSE as mentioned in the inspection report and you proceeded to purchase the house because the HOUSE HAD A LOW LISTING PRICE and a good potential for RENTAL REVENUE.
Honestly speaking, IT'S QUITE SHOCKING THAT YOU PROCEEDED WITH THE PURCHASE OF THIS HOUSE!
I wish you all the best.
