We live in rural Alberta about forty-five minutes SW of Calgary. Our home windows consisted of three sealed double paned large picture windows in which after forty-three years the seals had broken, eight smaller sealed double paned units which were still intact, sixteen single paned windows with a snap-in removable inner pane. These were all originally manufactured by Anderson Window Walls and the wood frames were still in excellent condition.
Two and a half years ago we met Simon at his Basco booth at the spring Calgary Home Show and arranged for him to come out to address the fogging of the large picture windows. He came out and "operated" on the three windows which solved the fogging issue. Over time I was concerned about the thermal leakage related to the other windows in the house as they were cold to the touch during our spring, fall and winter seasons.
We had had quotes to replace all the windows in the house that were ranging from $55 000 (replacing the casements and the glass with sealed units) to $22 000 (replacing just the glass). We called Simon at Basco this summer and he came back out to do some "problem-solving" as to how we could effectively replace all the windows with sealed units but keep the original frames.
The end result: we have replaced all units with either triple or double sealed glass with argon gas between (the triple units). This took some very creative craftsmanship by Simon and the results were EXCELLENT! The cost for the whole project was a fraction of the lowest quote we had had.
Simon was attentive to detail, efficient and very focussed on the project and a great pleasure to work with. We are now reaping the benefits of his labours and creative thinking. His follow-up to the work has been generated by his dedication to his professional ethic which encompasses excellence in the results.
