The Pool Heater Doctor

I have never left a 0 star review before but felt compelled to do so for other potential customers based on my recent experience.

Called the sticker on my pool heater for the Pool Heater Doctor to check if the pool heater may need to be repaired or replaced. At no time during the call was there a fee mentioned. The original time had to be rescheduled because it was a no-show - understand things happen and appreciate the call for rescheduling.

Was surprised to get a bill for $200 service fee after a 5 min look on the pool heater.

I'd be perfectly okay to pay the fee if it was communicated ahead of time but not as a surprise. Owner was unwilling to waive the fee although I was a previous customer (bought a control unit)... ended charging me $100 + tax still...

I thought this was an isolated case but read other reviewers having similar feedback so I hope this is not an intended behaviour... in that case, totally avoid this business.

I hope this is clearly a training and process issue vs. intended but nonetheless, one that leaves what was a happy customer no longer a customer.

Great company! My experience was awesome! Emailed them on Sunday of the long weekend; got a call from Jim on Monday; tech was here on Tuesday. Katy was quick to diagnose and repair the heater problem. When she told me the repair was covered under warranty (heater is under 2 yrs old) and there would be NO CHARGE to me for the service, I was stunned. They did not install my pool heater - I used other trades. A tip was warranted probably should have given more. I won't hesitate to call them for any future pool heater maintenance. Highly recommend. I did not see these reviews prior to contacting them and I am rather surprised at some of the negative ones. My dealings with them were quite the opposite

I was quoted a price to replace our pool heater. Subsequently received an invoice for approx. $350 more than agreed. They conveniently forgot what was agreed and then got very unprofessional making up stories that I agreed to order a larger unit, threatened to send my outstanding amount out for collection. I paid what was agreed by etransfer within 2 business days of installation. (only reason two days is that 2 etransfers had to be completed 24 hrs apart because of daily bank transfer limits) This company is extremely unprofessional and I highly recommend that no one use them.

Incredibly unprofessional. They were more than an hour late and would not return my phone calls. No apologies. Spent 30 seconds looking at my heater, said they couldn't help, even though the guy on the phone said it would be no problem. The service guy was really rude about it. Then he tried to charge me $150!!!! Incredible. AVOID at all cost!

Best pool heater repair company I've ever dealt with. They came the day I called in and had my heater working perfectly within an hour.
They are a little pricey but I'll tell you I'd pay even more for their service. They explain3d everything so I could understand and even gave me tips on how to maintain my heater so I won't have to make anymore service calls. I highly recommend this company.

I called in for a "repair" on a two year old pool heater. Two guys showed up, within 5 minutes they said the heater was not fixable but if we want to avoid the $150 service charge I can pay $3000+ for a new one???? They spent a total of 15 minutes. I called for a second opinion, it was cleaned and repaired with a $20 part. I have checked with several companies, a new heater can be installed for less than $2000. They insisted I pay the $150, apparently they cost $10/minute. I called to discuss said "service charge" explaining you cannot charge for a service that didn't happen. They were not flexible at all. They run their business $150 at a time. Mistake #1 was that I called this company, mistake #2 is I didn't ask to see any licenses (the two fellows didn't look like the knew what they were doing other than trying to get people to buy overpriced equipment from them). DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
