handyman

If you don't like reading I'll cut to the chase: I recommend Wil hands down. He is head and shoulders above everyone in price, work quality and timeliness.
Now for the Details:
I had a home inspection and there were about a dozen things that needed to be done before moving day. I was told to expect to pay $250 and that not one person could do all the things on the list.
I emailed 20 Homestar highly recommended companies and was quoted between $450 and $800. Wil's company gave a quote hundreds of dollars less than all the others.
Will tackled everything on the list which including rebuilding the stove ventilator, fixing wiring, plumbing installation and issues, and so on. Will was quite experienced and. very knowledgeable. He had nothing but respect for me and my stuff. He did not charge me for things that weren't broken and kept giving me free parts and equipment that were brand new. He was punctual, worked fast and his work was top notch.
I'm skeptical of Handymen rates and at one point we even went to home depot. But when I got the bill it was $50 less than the estimate and $350 less than the cheapest quote out of the HomeStars recommended companies. Probably because Will was diligent when he worked to the point where he wouldn't even answer his phone. I would recommend Wil without hesitation. If your situation is like mine, he'll be done so quickly you can get him to do other things around the house. He's a smart, honest guy and is down right affordable. Thanks Will!

Pipes in basement

Our basement pipes kept freezing, and we could not figure out what the problem was. Wil and Peter came to inspect and let us know what the possible problems could be - our basement is finished, so there is only so much that can be visually inspected. They always made sure to keep us informed at every step, and after we agreed that some holes would need to be cut in the ceiling to see how the pipes were routed, they cut only what was required and cleaned up afterwards. They quickly saw that our problem was the worst case scenario - pipes resting against the exterior wall, behind the insulation - no wonder they kept freezing! Wil and Pete came back a few days later to install new pipes and a shut-off valve for the external faucet, and came back a couple of days after that to re-patch the drywall, sand it down and repaint. They did a great job, and I no longer fear winter and frozen pipes! They are very friendly, personable and reliable. They even went above and beyond the call of duty, as I had issues with my furnace a day or two after, and my furnace guy said the problem was not with the furnace, but with the electrical. It was a cold evening, I was home alone with the baby and slightly freaking out - Peter and Wil quickly came to my rescue and figured out what the problem was (electrical, easy to fix, but I didn't know what it was) and would not charge me! Also, we have a problem with a concrete retaining wall, Peter took a look at it and let me know that this was outside their scope, but gave me the name of a competent contractor to contact. These guys are friendly, competent, honest and care about a job well done - I would hire them again in a pinch!
