I came across www.removeceilingtexture.com while researching other things for my home reno. I am so happy that I found their website. Prior to the start of my reno, I wasn't aware removing the texture was a realistic option. I have heard of scrapping the stuff off or just installing a new drywall ceiling. Scrapping sounded time consuming and messy and a new ceiling expensive.
I called Asa and he clearly explained I had a couple options regarding my living/dining room ceiling texture (about 450 sqft). It could be sanded/vacuumed off with a specialized machine or two skim coats can be applied to the ceiling. Due to the age of my home and the risk of asbestos, we went the skim coat route.
Asa skillfully did his work and I am amazed at the results. It's hard to believe it's not a new drywall ceiling! I now have a bright, smooth, flat finish where a textured shadowy ceiling used to be. I wish I didn't misplace my before pictures. Highly recommended.
