Great roofing service

Jim runs a great roofing service. Him and his team were always courteous and were able to do the entire job within a single day. I highly recommend this old school roofer to anyone in Toronto's East end looking for a fair price, quick service, and a beautiful roof.

He was able to inspect the roof, provide a written quote, and set a date to start on the roof all within a week after the first phone call. He provided a reasonable estimate for a half roof job and was even able to match the shingles to the existing ones while other contractors said the shingles were discontinued and quoted over 3x more to do the full roof.

Piss-poor roofing job

Please beware of hiring Jim Brow to do your roof. We was a nightmare to deal with.
He started stripping off the flat portion of our roof before a massive rainstorm, leaving it exposed with only a tarp to protect it. It still leaked.
He told us it would take 3-5 days to finish the job. After 18 days, he gave up and walked away. He never finished the job.
Somehow, Jim - a roofer with decades of experience - never thought to check the grading on the flat roof portion. So after he put the new roof on, there was significant pooling where it had settled. When we told him, he told us it wasn't his fault, the roof was the problem. (Honestly, I'm not making this up.)
When we asked him to fix the problem, he tried patching the deepest pocket, which only moved the pooling to another spot on the roof. He refused to regrade it properly. He yelled at me on the phone, hung up on me twice, and told me he was done, despite leaving us with a roof that doesn't drain properly and water damage inside. And all this after we bought his crew lunch twice, plus gave them all LCBO gift certificates, in the hopes that if we treated them well, they would do a good job.
Instead, his 10-year labour warranty didn't last a week. We now have to hire another roofer to fix his shoddy work. We had held back a not-insignificant amount of money until the job was finished, but he must have overcharged us enough that he could still afford to walk away. We don't normally leave reviews, but wanted to spare anyone else the stress and cost of a similar situation. You could be left with a giant headache and no recourse.

Redoing the roof with honesty and professionalism

Jim Brow and his team did a great job replacing the shingles on our three story Victorian. They were prompt, professional and did a great job. They were super easy to deal with and straight shooters. They cleaned up so well you'd never know we'd had the roof done. We should also mention they cost almost half of what a well known roofing firm estimated the job would cost. Great work. Great price. What more can you ask for? Highly recommended.

Flat Roof Replacement and Skylight

This contractor did the roofs on several houses on my street and was recommended by neighbours so I called them up for our house. Jim and his crew replaced our 100+ year old flat roof, down to the trusses and including new decking, membrane etc. While they were at it we also had them install a 5 foot skylight, do chimney repairs and reroute downspouts. Work was done to a high degree of workmanship. A significant amount of waste debris was produced but you would never have known, the yard was clean including a magnetic sweeper for any errant nails! Jim is a very honest man and straight shooter I have no doubts I will be calling on him again when it is time to do the garage. At the same time he completed the job for a much better price than some other quotes I received.
