I had ancient dining room chairs that were in desperate need of help.
The selection of textiles in the showroom was great. Terry understood exactly what we wanted and helped us to find something appropriate.
The work that Darren and Peng Ou did on our chairs was high quality and looks amazing. They did much more than upholstery. They repaired/replaced the original springs on the chair. They reinforced all of the dowels so that the chairs no longer squeak and wobble. They put in new cushioning. AND they replaced the upholstery.
They did a great job. The upholstery looks 'tight' and clean and the chairs are now comfortable to sit on.
Darren picked-up and dropped off the chairs from our home. The price was exactly as quoted, as was the time frame for completion.
Everyone was extremely friendly to work with and very helpful.
I will go back to Alo the next time I need something upholstered, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

We selected the fabric at the store on Eglinton. Terry was very knowledgeable and we are pleased with our choice. Darong picked up the chairs and returned the chairs on a timely basis. The workmanship is top of the line and the chairs look like new. Alo quoted the most competitive price and was the first company to respond to our initial inquiry. I would certainly recommend this company.

I was so nervous about this project but as you will see from the photo everything worked out fine and exactly on time as promised!

The piece that I purchased is a king-size diamond deep-tufted curved wingback headboard with matching bed frame (frame was not tufted, just upholstered) and solid wood leggings. I had been shopping for a few years now for even just the headboard and couldn't find exactly what I wanted. And I knew that this would be a difficult piece to create on my own.

I contacted Alo after finding one of their demonstrations on youtube. I could tell right away that Darren was very experienced and that his attention to detail would guarantee a solid product. Darren immediately responded to my email. I provided him with pictures of what I wanted the final product to look like and received a quote the next day. During my consultation, I had made some custom adjustments to the measurements and picked out all the fixings including the fabric of my choice. Darren also provided some great feedback to help choose the items without adding huge costs to my original estimate. This was not only important because of my limited budget but also because they have hundreds of fabrics to choose from. Then Darren and his team got working. They delivered right to my bedroom as promised. They assembled it right on the spot and even put my boxspring and mattress on. I got the bed of my dreams and it turned out just as I had envisioned. The quality is top notch and you can tell that they put a lot of time and effort into every square inch of this piece. The original model that I was going to purchase in store is beautiful but the headboard was about 4' tall and cost $5000 US. Alo built me just under a 6' headboard, with the fabric of my choice and cost only half the price. I most certainly recommend Alo for your custom pieces and re-upholstering services.

I wanted to replace some patio chair cushions that had completely worn out after 12 year's use. Darong not only copied them beautifully -- but he made them even better, taking care to put firmer padding in the seat area in comparison to that used for the back rest. The workmanship is superb -- fine, straight seams, no puckering of fabric, perfectly spaced buttons, carefully positioned fabric pattern. I'm thrilled with the work. And on top of that the service was warm, friendly, accommodating and swift. I'll be back with my next upholstery project, that's for sure.

I chose Alo Upholstery because of their consistently perfect 10 score reviews. Initially, I asked Darong to reupholster an antique couch, make a zippered cover for a bay window seat, and approximately 9 pillows of various dimensions . After seeing how beautiful his work was and his incomparable attention to detail, I asked him to reupholster a love seat to match, and 7 dining room chairs.

As others have mentioned, the members of this family business take great pride in their work, are a delight to work with, and do not consider a job complete until the customer is totally happy with every aspect.

Below are two photographs. One is of the lovely work Darong did on my loveseat. The other shows the subtle detail he provided to the arm of my antique couch.

And while the other reviews have already made clear what a rare find this small family business is, I can add two specific examples that will help make the point.

1. About two weeks after Darong delivered the first couch, my puppy peed on it — just a tiny bit. Because the couch is velvet, I panicked and rushed to clean it. Unfortunately, I made a bigger mess than she did. But, Darong came to the rescue; he photographed the couch seat, took a sample of the fabric, and is now consulting with some of his contacts who specialize in fabric. He is also researching a potential approach using steam. If there is an answer out there, I am confident that Darong will find it.

2. After the job was complete, I changed my mind about the size of two of the living room pillows. I asked Darong if he could make the pillows smaller. I sew a bit myself so know that this was not a small request. Again, the pillows are velvet, a very difficult fabric to work with, and have a zipper as well as piping around the edge. His response was a cheerful, “No problem. I'll take care of it.”

I recommend Alo Upholstery with great enthusiasm. Hiring this small company allows the customer to relax knowing that the job will be done with great care and impressive artistry. It’s a shame that more companies aren’t more like this one.

Our thanks to Darong and his amazing father for the outstanding quality of their work and service. They reupholstered and added new foam seating to a couch and three occasional chairs and they now look like they just walked off the highest-end showroom floor.
