Underpinning

Pat, Tony, Connie and John did a great job underpinning our basement. They showed up on time and worked diligently each day. We have a young child who spent most of the time at home during the project, so we were concerned with having people working in the house for an extended period. With that said, we were very happy with the crew who were very friendly and courteous to us and our child. For a project as invasive as underpinning, they did a great job of isolating themselves in the basement with as little disruption to us as possible. I wholeheartedly recommend Pat, Tony and their crew.

Underpinning

Tony and Pat did a great job for the underpinning. They came at 7 every morning and everyday they cleaned up the job site. They took their time to explain everything to us. I would recommend them to our friends for sure.

Basement Underpinning

I initially contacted Tricolour in late May along with 4 other companies who specialized in basement renovations and underpinning to get quotes and a timeline to undertake the work, should we decide to go with them.

We selected Tricolour, not only because they came recommended from a neighbour who used them a couple years earler, but they were also the most responsive in terms of answering questions, providing clarifications when asked and of course price.

You will still need to get an architect to do up the building plans for submission to the city to get the permits. But Pat and Tony were very helpful in giving us direction to ensure the plans were done correctly.

Once we decided to go with Tricolour, couldn't have asked for a better outcome. They initially told us it would take 4-5 weeks to complete (done in 3-1/2 weeks) and would be available to start work first week of August (equipment arrived the Friday before).

They came in around 7am everyday, set up the protective tarps for our garden and the neighbour's house (we have a small laneway between the two houses, so all of the dirt came out the window). And they laid tarps down inside the house (from the back door to the basement) to protect our hardwood floors in the kitchen.

At the end of the day, they picked up the tarps and ensured the house was secure. And they ensured there was no mounds of dirt in the laneway thereby enabling us and our neighbours to have access to the backyard. On garbage day, they ensured the bins were moved from the sides of both houses to the street first thing in the morning and were returned to the their locations at the end of the day.

The best part of the experience, there were no surprises. They finished ahead of schedule, on budget and all the requisite building inspections with the city passed.

Since the work was completed, we've had no issues with any of their work (ejector pit for basement drainage, sump pump pit for the weeping tile, new drainage lines) and no dampness to speak of at all. And they were quick to respond when I had questions from my plumber about the drainage lines. I just wish the contractors we hired to finish the basement after the underpinning work were as reliable, efficient and tidy as Pat, Tony and crew.

Underpinning and walkout

It’s really refreshing when you get a contractor to do what they say they’re going to do when they say they’re going to do it for the agreed upon price hence the reason why I’m taking the time to write a review for Tri-colour concrete (TCC).

Tri-colour concrete (TCC) recently underpinned our home as well as built a really nice walkout entrance to our 100+ year old semi in Greektown.

In the beginning of the process we had many questions and concerns and Pat took the time to explain each step of the process in detail and answered all our questions. This really helped take the mystique out of the process for us.

Having a family with small children I’m very cautious about who we let in our home. I would like to share with you that we felt very comfortable with Pat and his crew. They were all very friendly, courteous, and respectful.

One of the things that distinguished TCC from some of others is that we knew that the owners of the company would be a part of the team doing the actual work. This made us feel confident that we were getting their A team and not just another crew.

Lastly, you know that you’ve chosen the right contractor when other contractors give you compliments on the work.

So if you are underpinning or doing any type of concrete work I would highly recommend calling these guys first.

Phenomenal job!

Basement underpinning

Pat, Tony, and their crew did a great job from start to finish. Their quote was competitive, they were always responsive to phone calls and emails, they started on time every day and kept the work site clean. I was kept informed on things as they progressed, and they worked really well with other trades coming in. They explained options clearly and solved problems, and even finished ahead of time. A contractor working next door told me he could tell they knew what they were doing. Everything came out great, the process went very smoothly, and everyone was a pleasure to interact with, plus they were really nice to my little boy, who loved watching it all. Great service all around - absolutely recommended.

Basement Underpinning and Driveway

Pat and Tony underpinned our basement and repaved our driveway 2 years ago and did a fabulous job. They were professional, on time and always left the job site tidy. They always took the time to explain the work they were doing and never minded re-explaining things for those of us who are not construction minded! Underpinning the foundation of a house can be nerve wracking experience, but I never had any hesitations with Pat and Tony. I would highly recommend them to anyone who asked.

basement underpin

They had underpinned the houses of 3 friends and had done great work. John had the entire slab busted up in a single day and managed to excavate 3 feet of earth in less than a week. I think he has the DNA of a miner!!! Pat and Tony supervised the underpin, the pouring of the floor as well as the walk out from the basement. It's perfect. They take a couple weeks in October to hunt so I am now waiting for them to return so they can pour a walkway for us. When they returned last time they brought us venison! Very difficult to find honest guys like this and I feel lucky that we had them work on our place. There was a house a few blocks away that collapsed after an underpin job so I was extremely concerned and paid very close attention to how the work was carried out. No problems at all!

Basement under pinning

Tricolour were recommended by our general contractor, but I wanted to check them out because it is obviously the most critical part of the job.

We toured four basements they had done within a few blocks of us, and every home owner remarked on how smoothly everything had gone and how pleased they had been, so I felt comfortable accepting the recommendation.

We were literally thrilled with the work they did. When someone is working on the foundation of your home, you want professionals, and I can't recommend Pat and Tony more- the crew was exactly on time every day, the work was done on schedule, everything was neat and tidy at the end of every day. They took every precaution, and went about the work with the clear confidence of a team that has done this many times over. I learned as they were doing our basement that there were even other neighbors that they had done work for.

As an engineer I've worked on and managed construction sites, and an organized, orderly site shows me that the crew has discipline and pride in doing the job right.

I have no hesitation to recommend Tricolour in the strongest terms, even if it looks like this review was written by their Mom :-)

Underpin and new walkout

I worked as a renovator for years but have been out of the business for a while now. So when I needed underpinning done I called up 2 seperate contractors that I had worked with in the past for recommendations. I was impressed that unbenounced to one another, they both recommended Tri Colour Concrete. Sure enough, Tony and Pat and crew did not disappoint. They were consummate pros - old school, no-nonsense, curtious, clean and efficient. I look forward to recomending them to friends.

basement lowering/underpinning

Pat and Tony showed up on a sub-zero December morning with their crew at 6:45 am. They set up equipment in our basement and at 6:59 am they started swinging hammers. These guys waste no time and it's so refreshing to work with people who respect their clients and just get the job done. They showed up each day and worked their tails off until late afternoon. Great workmanship, great crew, great job! I've recommended them to friends as they were recommended to me. I would not hesitate to use their services again.
