Cheap And Cheerful Slipcovers

Unfortunately I also missed seeing these reviews until it was too late. Helen came to our house, fabric book in hand, to measure our cushions in order to create cushion covers. She went through the whole process- measured the cushions, explained the pros and cons of various fabric options, and wrote up an estimate for labour and material costs. I also paid roughly 50% up front; fortunately this was only $70. She stayed quite awhile, and was pleasant to chat with. She even told me how pleased another client was with her work, and how her cat was unable to rip the fabric with its nails (see below for the comment from the woman with a cat)!

When Helen was slow in getting back to us, I emailed and texted. I heard from her after several days, explaining she'd been caring for an ailing friend and would have the covers completed soon. That was the last I've heard from her. I've sent multiple emails, texts and left phone messages. It has been over two months.

I will be filing a complaint with the better business bureau. I hope this message reaches others before they make the mistake of paying for her services.

Unfortunately I did not see this review before I also hired Helen from Cheap and Cheerful. She took my $500 deposit and cut up my new sofa and chairs and has never come back. Refuses to answer phone or email and has a false address on her 411 web information. Trying to find her so I can take her to small claims.

We needed loose slip covers for a new sofa and chair because the cat was scratching them during the night. We wanted to easily remove the covers during the day. As her website www.cheapandcheerfulslipcovers.com stated, Helen visited our home and provided what we felt was a reasonable estimate. It was October 12th and Helen estimated she could make the covers the first week of November. We accepted her quote and paid 50% which approximately covered the material cost. On November 5th I contacted Helen and we made an appointment for the morning of November 9th for her to come and measure the furniture.
That was the last I have heard from her. I have phone and left numerous messages and have sent numerous emails. It seems that she refuses to reply.
