Called Chris to schedule a carpet repair for four small areas (few inches in diameter). He was punctual, coming to the home early. The part that wasn't that great was that instead of bringing carpets for patching he cut out carpet from other areas to do the patch. The patch lined up good though because the bits of carpet he used came from the closet and hadn't been worn too much, the colours did not match. Not much you can do about that. Only when I bought other carpet pieces to repair the sections he had cut out did I realise that it actually wasn't too hard to do the repair myself and I would have saved myself hundreds of dollars. His repairs were better, and may stand up better over time than mine, though because of the colour difference you could easily tell where the patches were.
If he brought in the carpet pieces himself instead of cutting out other pieces from our carpet, and if it was a bit cheaper it would be worth it. The fact that I still had to go to a carpet place to buy carpet to repair the areas he hadn't done and then do the work means that it wasn't worth the money.
I should say that he was up front about the price, was friendly and prompt, and his work did look better than mine, though because of the aforementioned reasons, we wouldn't have him do it again.

Mark, the reason I do not bring carpet with me is: there are literally thousands of different colours, types, patterns, pile heights and styles of carpets available and each calendar year they change. For me to even come close to a matching carpet I would have to tow a very large trailer stocked with these. That is why to make a good repair I must ask you for a piece of carpet to replace the damaged carpet, this way you get the most invisible repair possible.
