Heat Pump Service

Faris misdiagnosed the problem with my condo's heat pump and charged twice what other HVAC specialists charge. He quoted $1,700 for a repair that should only cost $800. I called Evapcon because our condo's management company uses Faris for their HVAC work; I thought I could trust him to know what he was doing. Since it was winter and I needed heat, I let Faris take the heat pump to their workshop for servicing, but the next morning I called the manufacturer to discuss the problem with my heat pump and he gave me quite an education. He put me in touch with the HVAC company that does their warranty work and I found out that Evapcon's charges were excessive. Faris told me the reversing valve needed to be replaced at a charge of $1,700. He then told the condo management company (but did not tell me) that the heat pump also had a freon gas leak; however, I have learned that if the heat pump is low on freon, then the reversing valve will not work. In other words, there is likely nothing wrong with the reversing valve, it just needs freon to operate. Faris won't return the heat pump; he has not given me any paperwork; I do not know where their workshop is. I have had to buy a new heat pump. I find Faris to be unprofessional, and he does not follow best practice.
