Andy's Drywall Solutions

I would personally never hire Andy's again. If you do decide to hire them for your own project after reading this review, I strongly suggest you withhold a portion of the payment until they have addressed any issues after the prime check and don't count on them coming back for any warranty issues.

As part of a large renovation project in my home, I hired Andy's in December 2016 to hang, tape, mud and sand new drywall on all ceilings throughout my 2-story home as well as skim-coating the walls in my living room.

This job took about three weeks to complete (a week longer than Andy's original estimate). There were a few challenges with making the new drywall on ceilings flat/level due to the age of the house and there were a few hiccups along the way, but I felt that Andy's did a reasonable job dealing with the complexities that came up. My biggest complaint while the work was being performed was that in couple of instances one of the crew members (who would often be working alone in the house) would go to closed-off areas of my basement where I was storing all of my personal items and look through my belongings and "borrow" my tools. This was shockingly inappropriate to me, but in all fairness, at least it stopped happening after I expressed my concerns directly to Andy (he would usually not personally be on site).

After the last round of mudding and sanding was completed, I was assured by Andy that he would be back after the walls and ceilings had been primed for a "prime-check" and would fix any remaining issues, so I gave him a cheque for the full amount of the contract.

Unfortunately, priming the ceilings and walls revealed a large number of minor issues with the drywall work, such as clusters of bubble holes left after sanding and many sanding marks, some fairly deep and all very visible after a coat of primer. There were also some more significant problems like several large seams on the ceilings that were not properly finished and were visible. In the living room, one could see the location of almost all drywall screws heads on the ceiling, as if a final coat of mud was missed altogether.

I contacted Andy in February 2017 after the primer coat was done and he came over the next day to have a look (which I appreciated). He acknowledged all the issues and reassured me that these were all very common/normal issues and that he would contact me during the week to schedule the fixes.

Unfortunately, that's where things started going downhill. After not hearing back from him for a week, I contacted him by text to see what was going on and he replied that he was fighting a cold and had to push it to the week after. That was the last time I heard from him.

Over the next several weeks, I unsuccessfully tried to contact him many times using text, phone calls and emails. Realizing that he has no interest in addressing the issues with the workmanship in my house, after a whole month of waiting and trying, I finally gave up and made other arrangements to get the problems fixed so that I could move on. This cost me a lot of extra money and time and caused even more delays and logistical problems with my renos.

Overall, while Andy's crew did a decent job while on the site, they did not stand behind their work, completely left me hanging, and forced me to find another way to remedy the problems with their work. Since it was impossible for me to get a hold of him once the issues where revealed only a few weeks after they left my house, I can only imagine how they would respond to warranty issues after several months!

It's a shame having to leave such a low rating for this company and this review would have been quite different, had they spent the little bit of extra time to address the issues in my house. But when a company not only fails to deliver what was promised, but also evades me and dodges my calls, it indicates a serious lack of ethics and professionalism and I simply cannot recommend them to anyone.

The builder had originally vaulted only 24" of our bedroom's ceiling, near the window.

We hired Andy's Drywall to frame it level, drywall, plaster, prime and paint. He also removed the stipple from the remainder of the ceiling and created a beautiful clean flat ceiling before painting the entire room.

The work space was always left tidy, dust control was managed, and attention to detail excellent. We are very pleased with the finished product and would not hesitate to recommend this company.

This was a very last minute decision on my part and I had a short timeline to have the work completed. I researched local contractors and came across this website. Everyone seemed satisfied with the work, so I decided to make the call. Andy showed up the next day, provided me with mulitple options and recommended the best suitable one for the job. I received a quote only 4 hours after his visit!. The workers were prompt and kept a clean workplace. The new ceilings turned out great and was worth every penny. I do consider myself a very handy guy/perfectionist and was extremely satisfied with the quality of workmanship. I've already recommended Andy's Drywall to many friends and look forward to hiring them again.

Andy promptly showed up to give us a very reasonable quote for the installation of a bulkhead and drywall for a basement renovation after the installation of a furnace. He and his employees were friendly, punctual, polite and tidy. When they were finished the walls and bulkhead were ready for painting. We were so impressed with the quality of work that we then hired him to install a drop ceiling and laminate flooring. Again the price was reasonable and kept to the quote and the quality of work was superb. Andy and his employees made many helpful suggestions as well and the final result was excellent. Andy kept in touch throughout and was always accessible. We would highly recommend Andy's Drywall Solutions for any drywall or renovation project.

I hired Andy's Drywall Solutions to replace my basement ceiling after some water damage. They reframed and installed drywall, plastered, primed and painted. It looks amazing. They did an excellent job and I highly recommend them.

We used to have a 530sq ft finished basement but had to re-insulate the basement and had to rip out drywall on exterior walls. Once the insulation was complete, we had to also drywall the part of the basement that was unfinished to meet fire code. We put up the drywall ourselves and hired Andy to fully finish and repair the 530 sq ft finished basement as well as tape + do a "cover coat" everywhere else.

Andy's contractor that did the job was punctual, friendly and most importantly did a very good job. Even the cover coat he did in the "unfinished" part looks great. He also put up a plastic sheet to minimize dust outside the basement and used "dust control" mud for the final coat on our request to further minimize dust from sanding.

Neither Andy nor the contractor doing the job ever rushed and took the time needed for a great finish! Andy stayed engaged throughout the few days this job took and came to do the prime check to address any few remaining areas himself.

Andy's drywall provided a great product. The contractor showed up on time and followed a schedule. The work site was clean and safe. The workmanship was very high quality. I will use Andy's Drywall again and I would refer him to anyone.

We hired Andy's Drywall Solutions to do some drywall repair work in our stairwell that was poorly done by a previous contractor. The price was fair considering the work required and that it is was cleaning up someone else's mess. He took the time to explain what was wrong with the previous work and gave us the best options to have it re-done. I recommend Andy's Drywall Solutions to anyone who needs drywall services at a competitive price.

We hired Andy's Drywall to mud and tape our new basement apartment and we were very satisfied with the drywaller that worked for him. He was friendly, cleaned up every day before he left (the floor was left clean every day - no scraps or clumps of drywall compound) and the job was completed in the time frame that was quoted. We were also impressed that he was thoughtful enough to hang a plastic sheet over the opening that leads up to our part of the house so the dust would not spread when sanding.
We have had drywalling done on a previous house so when I returned home after the sanding was complete I was expecting to have to do a lot of cleanup in the unit, but again was impressed that it was left spotless, I'm pretty sure he dusted off the walls to prep for painting as well (something I have had to do in the past) since we went to dust off the walls and they were already fairly clean.

Andy was also great to talk to and we though it was nice that even though he was not personally working on the unit, he took the time to stop by to see how it was going and to introduce himself to us.

We will definitely be recommending him to anyone who needs drywalling done.

My wife and I were renovating our family room and were looking for someone to demo and replace our ceiling. Searching the Internet for a drywall contractor, I came across Andy. He had many great reviews already, so I thought I would contact him and get a quote. We arranged for a time for him to come look at the job and he was exactly on time. I went through what we wanted done and he had a quote to me within a few hours (not days like many other contractors). His quote was very reasonable and we went with him. His work was both amazing and fast. He didn't waste time, but yet still provided quality work. My wife and I are very picky about how we want things, but Andy exceeded our expectations. His communication with the customer is very strong, as he keeps you informed. I never felt like I had to constantly follow up, like I usually feel when dealing with contractors. His team he brought in were also very polite and clean and were just as impressive. Overall, I was extremely happy with the service. There are many contractors out there that do great work, but not many left that provide the extra customer service and professionalism like Andy. I highly recommend giving him a call!
