$250.00 and they didn't do anything!
My toilette tank was taking a very long time to fill with water after flushing. This problem had been going on for about a week. I looked up the problem and discovered it was the toilette intake valve and it would be simple to fix. I couldn't do it myself due to health reasons so I called Plumber.ca. The guy that answered the phone said he could have someone here the same day and I told him that wasn't necessary if they were busy, but fine with me.
A different guy came out and when he got here, he told me there was a service charge of $199.00 just for showing up. I had been tricked!! Since I was in for $200.00 I asked him what it would cost to replace the toilette Intake Valve. He looked it up in his binder and showed me it would be $437.50! So I told him to leave and he said I still owed him the $199.00. I felt intimidated so I took our my chequebook. He handed me a bill for $250.00 including tax. There was a further $20.00 was pre-printed on the invoice labeled, "Fuel Charge". OMG!!! And nothing was done!
It was a $20.00 part at Home Depot and a friend changed it for me in about 15 minutes.
I should have checked Homestars first. I usually do and now it seems that if I don't, it costs me a lot of money.
