Penguin Basements

We hired Penguin Basements to do a full basement reno in our home. We added a 3 piece bathroom, a beautiful open concept living/play area, an amazing pantry, a closet to tuck away our stackable laundry, and a properly closed off furnace room. While we had some minor setbacks with the schedule (to be expected with any reno) all of the workers were professional and the work was well done. Our project manager Juliano was great and easy to contact. He always replied to us quickly via phone, email or text. We are so happy with the final product and can't believe how much it has changed our home life with 3 kids. Thanks Penguin basements!

We wanted to finish the basement in our 2-year-old home and went through weeks of online research and request for quotes. When we met Dave, we knew Penguin Basements was different. He took the time (two hours!) to answer our many questions and draft a design. And when he explained that Penguin only uses mould resistant building materials even though they are more expensive, we knew we found the right company -- a company who won't compromise on quality to become more competitive. Juliano, who was the project manager, was no less professional. Yes, there were unexpected delays, but they were transparent about the whole thing and apologetic to the end. The last thing we wanted was shoddy workmanship just to have the basement finished in 3-4 weeks. In the end, we got the basement we were promised, at a reasonable price. Everyone, from those who delivered the materials to the trades people who did the installations, was attentive, responsive, and courteous. I highly recommend Penguin Basements.

We just had our basement finished by Penguin Basements, and are thrilled with the results - it is true, you get what you pay for! The quality of the materials used and the workmanship is excellent, and the crew were fantastic. Our project manager, Juliano, was such a pleasure to work with - I had a baby the week after the project was started and he went above and beyond to make sure that I was comfortable with their schedule while caring for a newborn. We have our basement completed by Penguin and it looks great. Dave, being our initial sales POC, put together a great yet functional design. Juliano, who was our PM during actual renovation, was responsive and did all he can to fit our needs. Will definitely recommend to friends and families.

Penguin basement is one of the rare company in Toronto that have a basement showcase. In fact, this was how I found them out while I was thinking about finishing my basement. The whole process was good and friendly, they shared the progress with you frequently and I was well-informed. One minor comment is that after the initial setup of the project planning in the tool it would be nice if it can update more frequently if there is any delay. However, it is still a step up from others vendor that my friends used before.

They also assigned a designer with you to plan your basement. This is really useful for us before it helped us to make a difficult decision where we struggled with to make the basement look spacious.

The price is a bit higher than the average but you get what you paid for.

The follow up process is also a nice touch. A good thing about that is you can even report to them any defect after the project is completed and they will honor the service call to address the defect.

Friendly conversations that didn't even involve the project were much appreciated. This gave us an added sense of comfort in knowing that we weren't just another job to make a quick buck. They actually took the time to get to know us and our own personalities.We also appreciate the trades people that spent their time working on our basement. Every single one of them was very friendly, polite and professional with a great sense of humour!Overall, we are proud to say that our basement was built by Penguin Basements!

If you want your basement renovation to upgrade your whole house get Penguin to do the project! The end result exceeded our expectations! We modified our original plan based on their recommendations and it proved to be the best use of our space. Their experience in being focused on basement renovations really made the difference.
