Remember to have the Garage Door Geeks carefully explain the limitations of its warranty before you use its services.
In June 2019 Garage Door Geeks installed a new garage door opener, including new safety sensors. Owner Nadar and a new technician were very helpful and professional. Three months later the opener stopped working. According to its Home Stars statement, Garage Door Geeks offer “warranty on all work our qualified technicians perform on your garage door …. Our warranty is unbeatable.” So, I optimistically called the company to fix the problem.
This time owner Oleh told me he suspected that the safety sensors were not aligned correctly, but he also informed me that the company's warranty did NOT cover realigning sensors, even though Garage Door Geeks had installed them only three months ago. I would have to pay for a technician's visit. Oleh also advised me to contact the garage door opener manufacturer to learn what to do. After I protested a lot, Oleh stated that the “conversation was going nowhere.” (Who talks to customers like that?) So, he agreed to inspect the problem later in the day.
Through a very time-consuming Google search and calls to my technically-oriented friends, I miraculously fixed the problem on my own, even though I did not have a clue about what safety sensors were and how to adjust them. (What is wrong with this picture?)
I expected much better follow-up customer service from Garage Door Geeks.

We try our best to help every customer with any issues they have with the doors or motor. We installed a motor that you have purchased and out warranty covers the Installation of the motor. If the actual product has a problem it is covered by the manufacturer Chamberlain. You called me with a simple problem that was caused by the user. The safety sensors were misaligned and I tried to help over the phone with this simple adjustment. After a 30 min conversion I offered to stop by at no charge to show you how to adjust the sensors. We scheduled an appointment later that day, a few hours later you called me back and you were able to fix the problem your self. We did everything we could to help you with the garage door opener. If this is not the best customer service than I don't know what is. I appreciate your business.
