I purchased my 100+ old home in Almonte last year, knowing that I would need to replace the siding (it was very outdated and tired looking). After receiving two quotes, I chose to go with Kovar Contracting, as they were much more reasonability priced, and their reviews were excellent.
Kevin and Alex were assigned to the job, and were outstanding to deal with. They worked very hard and had to endure the nastiest weather April 2017 could dish out daily. There were several very high peaks on the house, and they worked together safely and seamlessly to get the job done. I also expanded the scope and had them do some roof replacement where needed and also add eavestroughing everywhere. The eavestrough colour was matched perfectly to the house and looks great. I am extremely pleased with the job they did and would not only recommend Kovar Contracting but plan to use them again myself if/when the need arises!! My husband and I are very pleased with the work that was done. All the workers arrived as scheduled and were also polite and friendly. Everything was left clean and tidy when they left. I would have no problem recommending Jason and his team to others.

We suddenly had a small leak in our kitchen ceiling after a strong rainstorm. I called around to various roofing companies, but most of them were either too busy, too expensive or didn't even bother to return my call. Jason promptly returned mine, his price was right and, even though they were quite busy at the time, his foreman Alex dropped by early in the morning on his way to another worksite to inspect the situation in order to write up an estinate. He quickly discovered that the flashing had been improperly installed during construction - even shooting some photos to show me the details without having to climb up a ladder to see for myself. A few days later I approved the estimate that was emailed to me, and the next week Alex showed up and completed the work without my even having to be there. This company is very professional, attentive to detail, and does what they say they are going to do (a rarity it seems these days). I would have no hesitation using them again or referring them to anyone else.

I had downspouts added and one was tied in to a sump pump discharge pipe.

I hired Kovar Contracting to replace our skylight and noticed a leak in the attic the following winter. I contacted Jason and he came to our house that same day to inspect the leak. As soon as the weather warmed up he brought his crew out and removed and reinstalled the skylight at no cost.

I waited before writing this review. A great experience doesn't mean that the product will hold up. We had our roof relaced by Kovar in June 2016. Our experience up front was excellent. Jason is very personable, helpful and knowledgeable. His quote was competitive but no one came close to his upfront explanations, time spent talking about shingle color and quality choices. The roofing team came on time, did a great job cleaning up after and the roof looked great. We had a small issue with water coming between the roof and the eaves trough in a few spots. The team returned in a timely fashion and the fix has held. After a winter of extreme freeze and thaw, several wind storms (we're on a hill) and now a spring with lots of rain, I write this review. The roof has held. No issues to date. We HIGHLY recommend Jason and Kovar.

Jason was very helpful and knowledgeable in replacing roof vents that were letting squirrels into our attic. He went out of his way to help find a good pest control company for us as well. He and his crew replaced vents on our very steep roof in the middle of winter to help us evict our unwanted roommates.

I hired Kovar contracting to replace all the aluminum eavestrough with seamless trough and T-Rex gutter guard along with new soffit and fascia.

Alex came to the house and took all the old product down and showed me that not only was the old aluminum falling off because the wood it was fastened to was particle board and had decayed but that it was installed over the solid wood original soffit. He took the time to show me that only a few holes had been cut to let air into the attic and some of the vents had simply been attached to the soffit over solid wood and not opened up.

Throughout the job Alex was meticulous about the way he worked. He explained that it mattered which way the soffit ran from the front and from your laneway. He said " it should always be a clean run visually from the main access of your house... it matters because it looks sloppy if you have right angles cutting a clean line of soffit ". Now, I don't profess to understand this but I can tell you it looked fantastic when it was done! I understood what he meant after it was finished because it literally gave a crisp new look to the house from all sides.

Alex was very professional and treated my home like he wanted his treated and i couldn't be happier to have had him and Kovar Contracting on my property. It took them three and a half days to complete the job and after each day they cleaned up the property and removed all the garbage before leaving, you wouldn't know they were here if it wasn't for the big trailer in front of the house (which was also clean and well cared for not an eyesore). They cut all the old wood soffit that was under the solid aluminum soffit away and installed new breathable soffit and fascia that looks fantastic. I also have to say that the seamless trough and gutter guards work fanstastic. I have been through the fall and have not had to clear one clogged gutter and watched as the leaves simply blew over the gutters and allowed the water to flow in with no overflow, even through the big downpours we had this fall. It really worked flawlessly to the point that neighbours were asking me about it as they climbed ladders scooping black gunk from their plugged gutters. The whole system looks and works well together and since there is no bracket screws from the front, they are attached directly to fascia with screws every 8 inches through the back of trough and T-Rex system, it gives a sharp clean look from the ground.

If you are looking for a perfect meticulous job and want honesty when dealing with a contractor then Kovar Contracting with Jason and Alex are your best choice. Great work Alex and thank you so much!

We received visits and had quotes from a few other companies with quotes ranging from $13K - 20K. Jason's quote was very reasonable and we were immediately impressed with his openness, integrity and services/products. He offered one of the better warranties for both materials and service, His crew was courteous, friendly and did a fantastic job on our roof.
