Not good quality. Had to pay extra to get the work fixes

I was very exited to get our house painted. We had just installed new crown moulding and we were looking for a good reputable painter. We did some research and found him on home star. Our first interaction with Scott was great. I can say that he’s very nice and flexible. Our issue was with the quality of work. We found multiple spots that were very uneven, some had brush hairs , others he had completely missed. I have attached pictures to this post. I showed the pictures to him and he said he would come and fix it. He can in for a day to do touch ups, but when we came to inspect the house a day later, very little had been done. It was clear that he was not able to complete to the standards we wanted. We spent an addition $2000 to fix his work. Luckily we held back 5% which was helpful in covering some of the additional cost of hiring someone else. The painters that we hires were great. Very even quotes and straight lines on the trip. We noticed a big difference. He’s a good guy, but if you are looking for quality I would look elsewhere.

Approximate cost of services:
$5,000.00

Company Response

Wow. This review is shocking for several reasons. Firstly, the reviewer is anonymous. Secondly, after reading the details it became obvious who it is. This job was over a year ago. We parted on amicable terms. I had done scores of extras at no charge to try to please him. I work on trust and didn't ask for a large deposit and over very minor details he threatened not to pay me for the job. He literally was on his hands and knees with a flashlight finding minor flaws, which I happily came back to correct. The photos shown were taken before I completed the job, which is misleading. As I said, we parted amicably with him withholding not 5 but 10% to hire someone to make the job 'perfect'. I accepted the loss to be done with him. To claim it cost an additional $2000 to do touchups is ridiculous.
The worst experience in 30+ years of painting. And the only review on here that isn't 10/10 and glowing. And he waited a year to post, hiding his identity. Unpleaseable and completely lacking in integrity. And clearly malicious for no good reason other than to cause harm. I have hundreds of very happy clients and you are a nasty anomaly. Shame on you.
