Plumbing leak repair

After calling 2 other plumbing companies, Julian and his assistant from Plumbing Paramedics was able to drop by the same day to diagnose and repair a leaking bathroom drain pipe. Finding the leak was not easy as it was buried behind finished walls from the second story ensuite down to a finished basement bedroom. They were friendly, professional and efficient to deal with. I was impressed with how they were able to locate the leak and repair the leaking pipe all in about an hour and a half. I will definitely call them for my next plumbing job and would highly recommend them to others.

Complete peace of mind for our HVAC overhaul!

We can't say enough good things about Ben, Sam, and the whole team at Plumbing & Heating Paramedics. Everyone was professional, honest, and the on-site folks were tidy and respectful.

They walked us through all of the options for our AC install and furnace upgrade. The prices they quoted were on par with other estimates we got.

While installing the AC/furnaces they noticed that the previous home owner had cut corners on the vent work which would result in inefficiencies for our new system. They were able to fix the venting without delaying our timeline and kept it within a reasonable budget.

Absolutely no hesitation recommending this company to others.

Replace outdoor faucet

Went to HomeStars to find a plumber and Plumbing & Heating Paramedics contacted me via email almost immediately. Explained the problem, they told me what the cost would be to come to inspect and that it would be included if I had the work done. Plumber came the very next day at 8am, replaced the faucet and was done. Am considering purchasing their Home Health Plan for $19.99/mo that is looks after plumbing and heating system checks.

Very impressed with this business and the employee sent out. Very polite, mannerly, friendly and a overall great guy. Ben went over and above the call of duty sourcing me some parts for free. Great value for the work done. I’ll definitely be using them again for future work. Really nice experience getting my plumbing issues addressed.

Expensive Sink "Repair"

I chose this company because they were the first to respond to my service request, had great reviews, replied with a good message, and were available the next day. They charged me a lot for an easy "repair" of a leaking pipe under my kitchen sink. I scheduled the appointment for the following day b/t 12-4pm. They called me at 3:30pm that day to inform me they were running late and couldn't make it for at least another 2-hrs. A 4-hr window is not enough? I rescheduled for the following day b/t 10am-1pm. The plumber arrived at 10am with no flashlight and used his cell phone light to inspect under my kitchen sink. He quickly discovered that the pipe had loosened apart, causing the leak. He hand-tightened the pipe back together and tested that the leak was gone. He then put together 2 quotes for a) fixing the hoses for my dishwasher and b) fixing the hoses and rebuilding the pipes for my sink. I declined both because the prices were not worth the possible leaks. Both quotes had the same items for fixing the hoses, but the quote with only the hose fix was $70 more than the same items for the hose fix in the quote for both pipe and hose fix! He then charged me $185 + GST for his half-hour "repair", saying that was the minimum amount for a basic sink repair. That's equivalent to $370 an hour! I haven't hired many plumbers in my time, but that seems too expensive. I hired an independent plumber last year and paid him $75 to uninstall an old toilet, install a new toilet, and haul away the old toilet. That 1.5-hrs of work was a lot more plumbing than this 0.5-hr sink "repair"! The plumber from Plumbing Paramedics would have forgotten his work bag when leaving had I not reminded him. He emailed me the 2 quotes, along with a "360 Inspection Checklist" that he had marked that I declined, but had never offered to me, within an hour of leaving. However, it's been over 2 days and he has not emailed me my receipt for the $185 "repair", so I don't even have a receipt for it! I feel ripped off and cannot recommend Plumbing Paramedics.

Company Response

Hi Shaun, sorry you didn't have a great experience. Thanks to your feedback we were able to address your comments in our meeting that week. Honestly, we never considered someone might not like us using a cell phone as a flashlight. I guess to the technician it's an easily accessible, bright, rechargeable light source that fits almost anywhere. Going forward we've required the technicians to use stand alone flashlights. We also reminded everyone to double check that the receipt actually went through before departing the job. As far your concerns about price, we understand where you're coming from. Unfortunately in todays world, everything is more expensive than it was even a year ago. Being a fully licensed and insured plumbing company with licensed Journeyman, we have certain overhead that prevents us from doing jobs for $75. We're sorry that you feel ripped off, it's not our intention. We'd be glad to discuss it further if you'd like to call anytime. 403 452 2911. Have a nice day.

Tankless Hot Water Heater

This was the second time I've used Plumbing Paramedics, and I am very satisfied with their work. For the most recent visit, Ben did an amazing job troubleshooting the issues with our tankless hot water heater. He was friendly, courteous, and very patient as he walked me through each issue while explaining the entire system in a way that was easily understandable. I would highly recommend his work.

Excellent

First time I’ve engaged a furnace repair. Very good service. Ben quickly diagnosed the problem. Gave me all options. Provided reasonable advice. Was friendly and personable. Patiently answered all my questions. I didn’t at all feel pressured to replace the part or replace my 20+ year old furnace. Would definitely recommend, and will use this company again.
