Despite the post being somewhat outdated, I want to apologize for my late reply to your comments above. I never received a notification of the review posting. We are generally known for our good customer service and we regret that we did not live up to you expectations here. We did come and change the one board on the step as the "crack" had progressed to a point where it was no longer a "cosmetic imperfection". We are sorry that the treated lumber on your deck is cracking (checking is the industry word) beyond your expectations. With 34 years in the industry, we do our best to clearly explain verbally to all our potential clients that this happens to all wood used for outdoor structures exposed to the elements. We also have a clear written clause in our contract that says to expect visible cracking, checking and warping of posts and boards as a natural byproduct of the drying process and unfortunately, they cannot be avoided nor eliminated. These are generally considered "cosmetic" and in no way affect structural integrity. We do our best to manage our client's expectations to avoid this type of reaction and we regret that we may not have succeeded in this situation. Please be at ease to enjoy the deck we installed for you as it is safe and meets all construction requirements in Canada.
