Let me start off by saying that I have been a contractor for over 9 years, so this review is also my professional and informed evaluation.
We needed new windows for our 30 year old house as we still had the original single pane sliders. We found All Star Home via a google search and looking for positive, informed reviews.
We called Tony and he was very frank and professional , which I appreciate. We made an appointment which accommodated my difficult schedule, also appreciated. He also insisted that we both be present to make an informed decision together. As soon as Tony walked in I could see that he was an installer. Take it from me, the most knowledgeable and most honest renovation salesmen are generally those which have worked extensively with the product that they are selling.
Tony sold me the best windows they had. What I liked was that they only carried a select few brands that they trusted and came with an extensive and comprehensive warranty. he worked with us for an hour to select the windows that were best suited to our needs and budget. We live in Beddington overlooking the airport and Deerfoot trail so noise reduction as well as energy efficiency was our top priority.
He spoke to both of us equally, looked us in the eyes when he spoke and was very knowledgeable about his products. We were given an exact start date once the windows were in the warehouse and they were there on time. Having to work, I had absolutely no issue leaving Tony a key. They completed the project in 2 days only because it rained halfway through day 1. The only extra charge came about because they uncovered a vent pipe in the washroom while enlarging the opening for our bathroom window. Tony called my wife back to the house so that she could approve his decision to have his installer reroute the pipe, a very simple operation requiring only basic plumbing skills. we supplied the required materials from Home Depot and were charged much less for the extra labour than a plumber would have charged. All in all an expert installation. Properly sealed and perfectly square and plumb ( I checked myself).
As for cleanliness, all of our hardwood floors were properly covered (my wife confirmed when she went to approve the extra labour) and i checked for dings and scratches, which there were none. All debris and rubbish were meticulously cleared away and brought off site. The floors were swept clean.
As for cost, Tony gave us a quote right on the spot which is uncommon for a contractor, especially at 9 at night when he undoubtedly just wants to go home. He then asked for a very modest
down payment, 30% to help cover the cost of ordering the windows. We were given a legal receipt with the company letterhead and information printed on it for our peace of mind. Tony's quote was not the cheapest, nor was it the most expensive.
We love our windows. We have already noticed a significant reduction in heating bills. And the noise? when the windows are closed and locked , you can't hear a single car outside and you can BARELY hear the jets which literally fly over our house.
We were very happy with our decision, would definitely recommend All Star Home to friends and family, and look forward to doing business with Tony in the future.
