I was given a quote of $330.00 +tax over the phone after discussing at length what windows were in my home. I was never asked the number of windows, but I did tell the lady that I lived in a two storey home and had 2 bay windows, a glassed in porch, and a sliding glass door. The quote she gave me was to have my windows cleaned inside and out. She advised that this was a phone estimate and that it could vary up or down a little once the technician arrived. I said that was fine.
Come cleaning day James arrived and after giving my semi-detached home a look over declared that the price would be much higher. His reasoning was that the bay windows had multiple panes (don't they all?), there was a glassed in porch (which I had mentioned on the phone ) and that the house had a lot of windows for its size (1600 sf). My house has 8 windows upstairs, including the bay window, and 4 down including the bay window. Twelve windows. Plus the previously quoted on sliding glass door, and glass porch. So I was quoted $540.00 +tax to clean inside and out, an increase of $210.00! I said that was completely unacceptable. I was then quoted $290.00 to do the outside only. I was deflated, but gave him the go ahead.
Only eleven windows were cleaned. My dining room window is inside the glassed in porch, so even though it is mounted in the brick wall, I suppose James considered it an inside window. My bill total including tax was $316.40. I do not consider this integrity pricing by any means.
The upper bay window was smudged in spots, but otherwise the windows were nicely cleaned.
I submitted my complaint via email and heard nothing back. After my second email I was told it was being looked into. It has been nearly 3 weeks, so I doubt I will hear anything.
