Flat Roof Replacement November 2016

Do yourselves a favor and FIND ANOTHER COMPANY! Peter is difficult to deal with and full of excuses. He convinced me to put a slight slope on my flat roof. I had major leaking in 4 of my 5 units. This he explained was due to heavy snow and quick melting. Really? This is Calgary! That happens all the time and in the 25+ years I owned the building this was never an issue with the old flat roof. I could no longer keep the hot water tank in one unit lit. Had a plumber in and he tried several things. We then decided the tank needed replacing. ($800) Once replaced it still would not stay lit. (It is located in a small room that also houses 2 small furnaces). Then decided new tank was more efficient and if both furnaces kicked in at the same time as the hot water tank there was not enough fresh air in the room. Hired a contractor to cut 2 large vent holes in the door (approx. $300). It would not stay lit unless door was left open. I was becoming increasingly frustrated as I have owned property for over 25 years and had never had this problem. Peter could not figure out either. I finally decided to hire the company that had installed the furnaces and they went up on roof and "found the rain cap had been installed all the way down the pipe causing blockages and when furnace came on, it blows out the pilot light on the burner flame in the hot water tank." They also provided me with pictures of the improperly reinstalled rain caps. When I met with Peter to share pictures and the furnace company's explanation he argued that it said rain caps were installed (new ones). When I called the furnace company back they said they had not "replaced" rain cap with a new one but "replaced the old one correctly". Peter would not accept this explanation even with the pictures! I had wanted him to reimburse me for the cost of having someone up on the roof to diagnose what was wrong ($550). Needless to say he refused. So besides the roofing cost I was out the cost of a new hot water tank, (which likely did not need replacing for several years) the cost of a contractor adding ventilation holes to the door and the cost of hiring a furnace company to go up onto the roof. Two of the eavestroughs that he installed also leaked like sieves onto sidewalks my tenants use. Needless to say I did not contract him to repair these. I was tired of the excuses he gave when something went wrong. Do yourself a favor and HIRE SOMEONE ELSE!

Approximate cost of services:
$35,000.00

Company Response

Hi Linda,

I am so sad to hear that your experience with Claw was less than excellent!

I understand Peter tried hard to find a resolution that would leave all parties happy, including bringing in a furnace crew on his own dime, and fixing non-roof related issues at no cost to you.

If we can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out, as we strive to leave all of our customers satisfied with our work.

I will be in touch privately to extend further apologies.

Chelsey
