Urban Barn Calgary

I bought a decorative jar in June and I didn’t realize the lid was defective. The next time I went to urban barn to get a new lid was in July as I live 120 kms away from the store. The clerk said I couldn’t get a new one because it was longer than the 2 week policy even though I had my receipt they should have made an axception because of the distance. I WAS a regular shopper there but not any more.

I purchased 6 pillows, knowing I would return 3. I needed to check my colour scheme. I bought the pillows on Saturday and tried to return them Sunday. The assistant manager Lenka at The Westhills location refused to accept the return even though I had a receipt. She said the pillows smelled like cigarette smoke. I do not smoke or live in a smoking environment. Is this an excuse they often use so they do not have to accept returns? I called head office /customer care and they said well if the pillows smell like smoke you can't return them. I had these pillows for 1 day. They did not smell like smoke. Urban Batn does NOT care about their customers. Their so called managers are just used up interior designers, who can't get a job else where. When you arrive at the store they pounce on you like leeches with their fake sense of customer care but god forbid you should ever return anything. I will never shop there again. And would not recommend these stores.

I purchased a rustic desk to match my sons old school desk. When my desk arrived it came slightly damaged. I called urban barn and advised that because it was damaged I told the delivery ppl to take it back and didn't accept it. They did not give me hassle and replaced it. I'm very happy with my desk!

Didn't have a good experience with buying furniture from urban barn. Hopefully they will do the right thing and resolve this issue. Currently would not recommend the store urban barn.

Store manager Penny is here has no integrity. They ordered me a coffee table with different color and pattern and then trying to convince me that it is the exact same model. They said every piece is unique of it own nature. What an insult! It was a totally different color and different pattern!!
I filed an official complaint to the regional manager Chatel who said she would mail me a gift certificate. Well it has been 3 weeks now and I have received nothing, not even a penny. I cannot fathom how dishonest these people are with absolutely no integrity.
The coffee table is a nice quality. But customer service is a joke.

We bought several items for our new house last year and the sales associates were very helpful (though you can tell they're eager, they give you space if desired).

The problems came after we ordered. We asked for our couch to be delivered after noon. The driver phoned early and asked if he could drop off the item in the morning. Unfortunately we were not there. He seemed a bit annoyed that we would not be available until after noon and arrived at noon on the dot, and even stated that he would leave if he could not deliver the item at noon. (Which, fine, miscommunications happen sometimes with deliveries).

However, we had a second miscommunication in regards to the delivery of our rug. We received it by picking up from the Deerfoot Meadows location and upon discovering it didn't fit the space, returned it. However, the employees were very upset that we returned it to the store, rather than the warehouse. Since we had picked it up from the store, we didn't see the issue in returning it the same way.

The moral of the story is that although the items are lovely, please be wary about items that need to be shipped as the service can be a bit lacking. Overall, I would shop here again, but just for small items that I can pick up myself.

I bought my couch one & half year ago. My cushions on the couch have been sinking. I have been calling and emailing customer service for the last three months. They tell me someone is coming to fix it and no one shows up for several days, when I call or email them no replys for days. Still no one is here to fix it. I am very unhappy with their service. Please make sure about the service you are getting before your purchase.

My husband and I went to the store in Mission and purchased a coffee table and console table. We elected to pick up the furniture ourselves from the warehouse instead of getting it delivered.

When the furniture was ready for pick up, we received a phone call. (The furniture arrived on-time.) My husband went to the warehouse. Both pieces of furniture were unwrapped and ready for inspection upon my husband's arrival. The warehouse worker noticed that the console table was damaged and promptly brought another table down and unwrapped it to inspect. Both pieces of furniture were wrapped back up very well (by the warehouse workers) for transport.

I needed specific style of dinning table and some other accessories. The staff were helpful and friendly. Also when I was supposed to pick up the dinning table from their warehouse, the guys were helpful. The table had some scratches and they opened all of the tables in stock to let me choose the parts which were in good shape. All in all it was a good experience. I definitely go and shop there.

I had a custom sofa made through the Urban Barn Heritage location. I hadn't measured and we had to send the piece back to the warehouse when it wouldn't fit in our condo elevator.. I thought I'd be out $2700. When we went in to speak to them about it Sia was very sympathetic and helpful even though it was our mistake. She got us in contact with the regional manager Penny.

She was one of the best customer service/shopping experiences either one of us has ever had (particularly after furniture shopping around Calgary at other places). She was very accommodating, more than fair, and warm (as was Sia). Beyond our good experience with our mistake, they made our first time furniture-buying experience very pleasant and helped a lot.
