My wife & I wanted to replace our carpeted stairs with Oak hard wood, and the carpet in our family room with natural maple hard wood. After researching potential contractors, and examining the reviews from HomeStars, we decided on Goldwood Stairs and Floor Inc. They did not disappoint. Marki provided a reasonable estimate and stated her team could complete the job in a time period that was shorter than any other estimate we had received, and this was really important for us. Her team actually completed the entire job faster than expected, and the workmanship was excellent! The quality of their work is really good, and we would recommend this company to anyone.

I am guilty of overthinking and over analyzing things which led to meeting with more than ten contractors for my Staircase job. I knew I wanted to be as close to perfect as possible without breaking the bank.
I decided on the spot to go with Lee from Goldwood Floors. He listened to my ideas and then told me why an idea was either good or not good. The job was done on time, with no mess to clean up and my new staircase looks fantastic. Had the Goldwood guys over at end of November for replacing carpet everywhere in the house, complete with two new set of stairs from top to bottom. Very, very happy with every aspect of the project, from pricing, to quality, and service. These guys are experts and took out complete sets of stairs AND rebuilt them in a matter of 4 days. I had been quoted for much longer time and $$ by other vendors, and we went to 3 others before choosing Goldwood. They spoke limited English, but were friendly and polite. Swept up when they were done. The quality was extremely professional. There were spots that I wouldn't have noticed the details such as inside closets, but these guys made sure every inch was done right. Initially only planned to do major rooms in the house, but ended up replacing the tile in the foyer as well, for very reasonable price. Have had other contractors in the house doing other types of work before, and Goldwood is by far the most pleasant experience. Goldwood is definitely a hidden gem in the city.

I was initially impressed with the reviews I read on HomeStars and the quote (cost and duration of work) I received from Marki in comparison to the other quotes I received. However, it was when I went to see another job in progress that I felt more certain about having them do the work. Our work involved replacing the current carpeted staircase with a new wooden staircase, new posts and pickets and refinished handrail; for the flooring the work was to remove existing carpet on upstairs floor, screw in all the floorboards, replace all with new hardwood, and install new baseboard and quarter round. The staircase crew of 3 started and completed the work on day 1, and then the flooring crew of 4 did their part and completed everything on day 2 (including helping to move my furniture and putting it all back in place at the end.) I was most impressed with the quality and attention to detail of the work, for both the staircase and the flooring, even including the caulking work on the baseboard, and the neat cutouts for the vent registers. The crew were efficient and focused, and respectful of my property, and cleaned up everything at the end of the job. I've done many different projects for my home, and this is the best quality of work I've ever seen. Thanks to Marki and Lim, and their team.

We are very impressed with Maki and her team, their company is way better than most with a very competitive price, We've quoted with a few other people from HomeStars with quotes being almost double of what we get with Maki. Also their work is fantastic, I'm really happy with the final result and will recommend to all my friends. Their hardwood floor team did a fantastic job with our Jatoba (really hard wood), and their baseboard install is perfect. Will call them again when is time for basement hardwood and stairs.

We had an outdated and complicated staircase and railing and wanted to replace the entire thing. Goldwood was incredible - they were a pleasure to work with, were able to solve the complicated design and their price was so competitive. Marki took the time to work out stains and colours with our interior designer at no extra cost. I could not recommend them more! So glad we found this vendor.

I came across this company on my travels looking for someone to install new hardwood stairs for me, replacing broadloom. I obtained a few quotes and theirs was the best. However, their service and quality really sold me. The gentlemen worked for two long days and did a beautiful, professional job. Everyone loves the new staircase. I will use them again for my floors.

Our carpeted stairs were getting very dirty and worn out. We decided to replace the carpet to to wooden stairs. After much researched on the internet, we chose Goldwood because it is very close to us. Marki and Lee showed up and gave us a reasonable estimate. We still could not make up our mind because we read a couple of really bad reviews on Goldwood.
I, Frances, decided to call them up and spoke with Jenny regarding the reviews. She quickly reassured me that the company with the bad reviews were not them, but another company with the same name and located in Newmarket. That company was already closed down. Sure enough, the address was different from theirs. Jenny also encouraged us to visit their showroom, if we still have doubt. Since it was so close to us, my husband and I decided to check it out before making up our mind. We were surprised to find out that at the back of the company, they were actually producing their own wooden materials. We were fully convinced then and put down our deposit. They were able to schedule us in quite quickly despite being very busy in the summer.
We were very impressed and pleased with the workmanship. The 3 installers including Lee were very knowledgeable and knew what they were doing and they completed the job in one day, instead of two days. They got rid of all the creaking and squeaking noise which were there previously. They left our place in clean condition. The finished work was beyond our expectations.
We have no hesitation in recommending Goldwood to our neighbours. In fact, two of our neighbours have already seen the finished work and have asked for their business cards.
