Under The Sun Ecological Landscaping

This company did work for me and my neighbour, Don, to replace a curb between our
driveways. The original concrete curb had, over the years, leaned to one side so that it reduced
the driveway width on my side and became a potential danger to car tyres and wheels.

Sal Santinoli and his team removed (and disposed of) the old curb and installed a footing
and stone block curb in its place. The height was carefully controlled to be tall enough to be an
effective delineation, but low enough that my neighbour and I could drive cars over it in the event
of either of our driveways being blocked.

The curb is still in its original condition, 4 years after installation, and has been used in the way
planned many times. I would certainly employ Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping Inc again to do any similar work.

I would give them a 10 star rating in terms of work done to specification, price and time.

Sal and his co-workers have helped me with several projects in Riverdale:

Building a complicated, strong retaining wall that was impeded by tree roots;
Designing, planting and maintaining a brand new garden. (Starting from scratch).
Rebuilding a front porch.

In every case, the work was done very well indeed. The design was based on what I wanted but was done with knowledge and flair. The carrying out of the plan was, for each project, done in a timely fashion with expertise and flair. The costing has always been fair and the personnel carrying out the work have always been a pleasure to have around. I would rate this organization 10/10 on all fronts.

Sal and his team from Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping Inc. were extremely professional and delightful to work with. They transformed our traditional grass front yard into a beautiful garden paradise with a winding path, a gently curving retaining wall, and a number of striking, low-maintenance native plants -- all at a reasonable cost. We had a positive experience throughout the entire process, from initial consultation to finished work. From preparation of the site to laying the stone work, Sal took attention to every detail. We were extremely pleased with the quality of work and would recommend Sal and his work.

Sal and his team did an excellent job paving my front yard, a difficult task because of two huge maple trees and their roots. Sal had great ideas and did the work on time, efficiently, thoroughly, and for a reasonable price. I’ve had many compliments on the job and could not have asked for better. Ten out of ten.

After tearing down our old garage, our backyard was a clean slate. Sal came over and gave us several options for what we could do. After coming up with a plan and choosing plants, Sal and his men got to work. We were forced to change the plan a few times but Sal was very flexible and was able to react on the fly. The backyard looks beautiful because Sal and his group did a great job. After the project was complete, we had a few minor fixes that needed touching up and Sal was quick to come back and take care of it.

Under the Sun Ecological Landscaping replaced our retaining wall and front steps. At their suggestion we saved a significant amount by changing the materials used -- with no difference to the integrity or look of the wall. Hurricane Sandy was approaching and there was a lot of rain forecast in 2 days' time. Sal and his team worked tirelessly to get the job done before the deluge. We give them a 10 out of 10 for their effort and outcome!!

My front yard and walkway was in need of a major overhaul. I was looking for somebody to dig up our weed filled front yard and uneven/cracked walkway entirely so we could start from scratch.

Sal was great. He listened to our vision, then gave us some additional advice on materials and design, all to fit our limited budget. He and his team dug up and disposed the front, lay down new soil and foundation for the 2 walkways, and installed natural square-cut flagstone walkways from the front stairs to the sidewalk. In order to save costs, we are planting the garden ourselves, but Sal and his team ensured we had a good base to work with.

They are detail oriented, competitively priced and extremely friendly. I've already had tons of compliments from neighbours on how fantastic the walkway looks. Would definitely call Sal again should we need any other work done for our house.

Sal is a friendly guy who took the time to take my request, and then explain very clearly the project and the choices available to me. His team are very courteous and did a very high quality and efficient job. I couldn't be happier with the result.
