Mike's team recently came by and turned my shabby asphalt parking pad into a 20'x40' driveway. The work was excellent and my neighbors and even some strangers have commented on how good a job it is. His workers were on-time, on budget and friendly. We had a need for a certain type of grading so rain water would not run-off on to my neighbors property and it was done to perfection.

Mike and his crew recently completed a waterproofing and concrete job at my home. His quote for the job was reasonable and the job completed excellently and in a timely fashion considering the wet weather. Care was done to replace better cement stairs properly at my back door and they made an extra effort to make sure that the flow of water on my front sidewalk was moving away from my house after it rained.
Careful thought was done at each stage and completed with pride. They were careful at the end of each day to leave the site clean and tidy.
I have no reservations in recommending M. Scott Home Improvements for any related work you may have to be done.

Mike Scott and the two men working for him on the project did an excellent job in all respects. Mike discussed the scope and requirements of the project, was sympathetic to our concerns, offered constructive suggestions and was willing to work around potential problems.
The estimated cost was reasonable and in line with other estimates. It was also the final cost.
The job involved breaking up a walkway around the house, raising the lips of window wells and grading and pouring a new concrete walk. They arrived when they said they would. They approached the job thoughtfully. The workmanship was solid and the result excellent..
I was especially impressed by the respect they showed for the surrounding area and the care they took going about their work. They protected the flowers in the adjacent beds and only minimally cut into the lawn. They cleaned up thoroughly when they finished and left no mess..
I fully intend to bring Mike in on other jobs and would recommend him without hesitation..

We wanted a nice cement walk out patio. We had a referral from a friend that left us in a lurch and we tried to find someone to finish the job. We needed the cement poured and finalized.
We found 5 contacts on the internet..some did not even respond to us and other's prices were sky high..so we took a chance on Mike Scott and his company. Him and his crew were extremely punctual, polite, skilled and professional. They followed up promptly to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. I would highly recommend them to anyone that needs this type of work done.

The work was professionally executed and completed to our satisfaction,permitting an ease of circulation between the two properties,with proper surface water run off to the front and back of each property during heavy rainfall.( time frame was hampered by our severe weather conditions.)

After seeing pictures of the sidewalk that needed to be replaced I was given a very fair quote. Within a day or two, the workers came and the job was done very quickly, neatly, and professionally. It looks great! Thanks to the whole team.

Mike Scott helped us with our 1880's row house to waterproof our basement and pour a new floor. When I emailed via homestars looking for a quote, he was first one to respond. His pricing was fair and we felt confident in his experience. His guys were very polite, on time, and professional. I liked how Mike was on site regularly checking on the status to make sure the work was moving along and that we were happy with the progress. He returned all my calls quickly and even provided a mid project quote as we considered changing the scope of the project. He was patient with us as we put the project on hold for a week to consider underpinning or benching. He had all the required equipment to ensure the job was executed professional - they had bin on our narrow street and took it away at the end of each work day. I can certainly recommend Mike and would use him again for other similar projects.

The concrete walkway at the side of our house was cracking badly and we were starting to have some water infiltration. In late fall, we called three companies for quotes, and Mike Scott gave us the best estimate, while his plan for fixing the problem was the one that made the most sense.
We called Mike back in the spring to get the work going, and he came to our house within days. We decided to get some more work done than we had originally told him, and he was able to adjust his written quote on the spot and give us a detailed contract and price. Mike's crew was at our house soon after, and it took less than two weeks to get everything done, which included a lot of removal of old concrete. Mike was on site almost every day to supervise, and kept in constant contact with us to keep us updated. We really like his solution of installing a french drain at the back to direct the water into, away from the house - and the new concrete walkway looks amazing. Mike was a pleasure to deal with, we were confident that the work was high quality and are very satisfied with the result. I would recommend hiring Mike Scott in a heartbeat!

Overall I have not been satisfied with our waterproofing because the wrong approach was recommended and we have spent a lot of money only to find that our basement continues to leak.

Mike came to provide a free estimate just a day or two after I filled out an online request which was great. I liked his no-frills attitude and on-site quote within a few minutes of reviewing the house. He recommended outside waterproofing even with our semi-detached home in mid-town Toronto where we have a narrow alleyway. Digging would have to be done manually but his crew finished the job in only 3 days and I was impressed.

When I first wrote my review I stated that it was based only on my experience working with Mike and his crew, not based on the quality of the work as it had not yet rained and we couldn't test it out. I had planned to write an update after a couple of rainfalls. Very disappointingly we found out quickly that water continued to leak into our basement with the heavy rainfall through June (and continues now).

After several consulations and failed attempts at remedying the situation through simple fixes such as ensuring our eavestroughs were cleared, one of his guys took down part of our basement wall to assess the problem. Within half an hour it was clear that our lowered basement had not been done to code (from years ago long before we ever moved in). The exterior waterproofing was not doing anything to fix our leakage and had he looked at this at the beginning Mike would not have recommended exterior waterproofing at all.

Although it is not Mike's fault that our basement was not lowered to code, it is his responsiblity to assess the situation as best as he can before proposing a solution. He did come down to our basement and could see that it was lowered. Being such an old home (100 years) I think Mike could have done his due dilligence and suggested a quick check by looking behind part of the wall, which is what he ultimately did anyway. I had told him that we planned to finish the basement after the waterproofing was done so taking down part of a wall at this time is no issue at all.

I will not be able to comment ever on the quality of the exterior waterproofing seeing as we need an interior fix now to solve our leaking issue. Selling someone on an incorrect solution means you should be held at least partly responsible or accountable. My husband and I are truly frustrated with this experience and strongly suggest anyone with a lowered basement to know what they are dealing with before going with the exterior waterproofing route. We are hoping to recover some of our expenses from Mike to put towards an interior fix now.

A challenging job completed on time with meticulous attention to detail. Recently Mike and his excellent crew rebuilt, pargeted and waterproofed a section of my crumbling basement wall which had leaked badly during wet periods.
Mike is knowledgeable and professional in his understanding of these issues and how to repair them. His estimates are fair and he always took the time to address any questions we asked. The polite crew were conscientious and diligent in their assignments and thorough in their daily cleanups.
I would most certainly ask for his assistance in the future and would recommend you do as well.
