Arbutus Sundecks

In 2018 we had to replace the siding on our house and the old patio needed to be replaced, though it wasn't in our budget at the time. Fast forward to 2020- we contacted Arbutus Sundecks, as they had done a fantastic landscaping our front yard after our house reno. During our consultation, I found that the professionalism, knowledge and level of detail they brought to the table was reassuring. We weren't disappointed!
The deck looks spectacular and is solid as a rock. The mix of black aluminum railings, fir paneling, composited decking, and a high canopy gives us an extension of our living space and adds the visual appeal that was previously lacking. The Arbutus team is courteous, on schedule and full of good suggestions. I have zero hesitation in recommending their services. OM

Arbutus did an excellent job of installing the decking and custom railing for our balcony renewal. From the first visit to the last they were always on-time and on-schedule. Another great feature: the workers were tidy and they cleaned-up when they were finished for the day. I highly recommend this company.

We recently replaced the vinyl skin on our sundeck. After researching various contractors, we asked Arbutus for a quote. Mark proved to be reassuringly knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly, and we had no hesitation in selecting Arbutus for the project. He kept us informed of scheduling timelines and work commenced on the agreed date.The job was done by John, who was notably efficient, respectful, and tidy. He did excellent work, gladly attended to other minor issues that had escaped our attention, and completed the project on time. This has been a hassle-free experience and we are very pleased with the end-result. I highly recommend Mark and his team.

I was dreading dealing with a contractor to repair and rebuild our back deck, especially during COVID-19. However the deck was in need of serious repairs so I did my due diligence. I googled sundeck contractors, checked the BBB, read reviews from satisfied and dissatisfied homeowners, checked WorkSafe BC for clearance letters to ensure that contractors were in good standing and narrowed down the field to three companies from which to request quotes.

When Mark from Arbutus Sundecks came out, he spent far more time than the other contractors ensuring that he understood both our needs and concerns. It quickly became apparent to us that he was knowledgeable about deck construction and passionate about workmanship. We had several meetings where he came out with various materials and provided options that we had not previously considered. Because of his suggestions we ended up with a much nicer deck than we had originally anticipated.

Once we agreed on the project, Mark provided a construction schedule and kept to it. He and Magnus started the job when promised and completed it in the time agreed. Their attention to workmanship and detail was incredible. Several times they made subtle changes at an additional cost of time and/or material to them (but not passed on to us), because it looked better or was more functional. How many companies would do that?

During construction the site was kept clean; there was no smoking; no loud music was played and debris was removed each evening. Having Mark and Magnus around for the week and a half that it took to do the construction was a real pleasure. They are both excellent carpenters and true gentlemen. I would recommend their services without reservation.

Arbutus has replaced our vinyl deck a few year ago. This spring we noticed some water was leaking into our garage from a corner of the deck. I called Arbutus in April for help and Magnus came over the next day to fix it. I waited for a few more rain storms before posting this comment. Thanks Magnus, great job; no more leak.

We are very happy with the workmanship on our pergola. It is very sleek looking, non intrusive to the appearance of our home. It does not make the area dark, but in fact adds to the joy of sitting outside

We wanted to replace our old wooden deck with a new, low/no maintenance option. After consulting several companies and independent contractors we found Mark at Arbutus Sundecks. He immediately impressed with the promptness of his response, clear knowledge of the options and dedication to doing quality work on time and on budget.
We had our project done during the Covid-19 health restrictions and Mark went above and beyond in ensuring the safety of everyone involved. Our project took one week to complete and the worksite was left tidy and contain each day. The clean-up at the end of the project was great and the finished result is better than we had hoped.

My home is custom built. I had a Trex deck installed in my backyard.
I recently found one panel popping out. Unfortunately, I was no longer
under warranty and I'm not a handy man so I went looking for
decking company to do this minor repair. Time and time again, I was
told my job was too minor and was brushed off.
Thankfully, I got a hold of Mark. He said the job was too minor but instead he asked me where I live and what colour my Trex is. He told me he will be in my area soon and he can swing by to do this minor repair for free! I offered to pay but Mark told me it wasn't any trouble since it's such a small job and he will be in the area any ways. Truth to his word, a week later Mark contacted me and did the repair. I came home to find the panel fixed and Mark also took the time to do other minor repairs on my deck as well. I am so grateful for his service and professionalism.

Mark was amazing and took the time to really understand our situation. He made very good recommendations even going so far as to recomend other companies who could deal with our situation. In this day and age to find company that make recommendations with what is best for the client in mind blew me away! I absolutely 100% recommend Arbutus Sun Decks!

Our vinyl covered deck had an issue with one of the drains, and the extend of the water damage was unknown. I found Arbutus Vinyl through Home Star, and took a nervous leap of faith that they could find and solve the issue without ripping the entire deck apart. I was not disappointed. Mark was honest and clear about options, giving me a fair quote for a day's work. They were efficient and did a very neat, professional job. I would not hesitate to recommend Arbutus.
