We moved into our new home in April 2010. We hired Desa Construction, owned and operated by David, to do a complete home renovation. My advice is to never, ever use this man to do your work. He was supposed to start renovations on April 1, but didn't show up until April 6. That is just the beginning of our woes. I paid him $52,000.00 for the job and he did not complete it. His crew worked here until the beginning of June at which point things were getting done but at a very slow pace. After this, he basically walked off the job. He left our house in a complete shambles not to mention in very dangerous condition. He left live wires exposed with no regard for our children's safety. He left the interlock and stairs of our front porch in an unfinished condition which made the entrance to our new home a real safety hazzard. The painting was unfinished and was not even up to standard. We had to hire a new painter to come and redo the job!! He started several projects around the house and didn't finsh the bulk of them. It cost me an extra $15,000.00 to hire new people to finish off the house to bring it up to livable condition.
I frequently made attempts to contact him to come and finish the job he started but to no avail. I ended up having to send a letter of intent from my lawyer and again, he ignored his responsibilties to me. I declared my intentions to sue him for the $15,000.00 and he had the audacity to declare that I still owed him $7000.00 for the job!! We went to a settlement conference and he was not prepared to discuss the matter at all and it ended up with the judge making a recommendation to go to small claims court. We are unsure what to do now as getting the money from him will more than likely be damn near impossible.
Save yourself the hassle and find someone more reputable. He will screw you like he screwed me and others I've now found out about.
