Purchased Furniture

We purchased furniture from Harvey's on Kingsway. We thought the customer service would be outstanding because it is a small family run business. It turned out this experience was terrible - the worst customer service we have ever gotten. Ric, the furniture salesperson should not be in a customer service position. He is inept. He could not seem to do anything right - like perhaps letting the drivers know the time we would be home in order to receive the items. The driver phones me at noon and asks where we are??? I told him Ric did not communicate the proper time -as usual. It is as if Ric really does not care about the impression he makes. It’s like he doesn’t care about the company or his job. I think no matter what you do, you should try to do it well. The one time he said he would phone us, of course, he did not - I really didn't expect him to follow through on his word, after everything. We were promised delivery of another item. Three times they did not follow through - received a call saying they would have to deliver another day. All through this ordeal, Ric did not even call us. We are very patient people, who don't like to complain, but when you receive such appalling service, you really need to warn others. I've worked customer service, and if you want repeat clients, you treat them decently. All it takes to make people happy is proper follow-up. Checked the BBB - Harvey's is not a member and has unresolved issues with customers.....no wonder with the caliber of people that they hire. I will never go back, which is unfortunate because I really like their merchandise
No follow-up on the 1st item that was two weeks late and the second item that we waited for over two months. All we ever expected were calls keeping us updated....no such luck.

Approximate cost of services:
$1,000.00
What could this company do to improve their services?
Train the customer service people in customer service. Explain to them that you simply have to treat people the way you wish to be treated. You don't just take their money and run!
