Great job!

We have a few properties that we have had done by Reid’s Roofing. We have found them to be extremely professional the whole way through; right from Tamara who handles the booking and organizing of projects and Jake and Pete who do the quotes and trouble shooting on the roofs. The nice thing about these guys is they’re not your typical “salespeople” they actually want the best option for you as the consumer and will tell you if a fix truly needs to be done or not rather than trying to pull the wool over your eyes. The most recent we had done they just fixed the “problem shingles” rather than the entire roof. The crew that did the job was friendly and cleaned up so well that they even impressed my father, who is a very hard man to impress! Thanks Reid’s, we will definitely be continuing to use and recommend your services in the future!

Eaves trough replacement

I was very impressed with the front office staff with scheduling and follow ups. Ian replaced the eavestough and new gutter guards and facia on our house and garage. He was very efficient, and did a great job on both. We our very relieved not to worry about our eaves troughs overflowing any more. Great company.

Garage package

We had Reid's Roofing quote my new build for a garage package. The quote came in higher then I had hoped but it was really worth it. The office staff was super friendly and knowledgeable, estimator was informative and helpful in getting all the information required for the different aspects of building our garage, who knew there was so much involved in building a garage. We love We love our new garage. We would highly recommend this company to anyone looking for a knowledgeable friendly company to assist you with your Reno project.

For all your roofing needs

I contacted Tamara at Reid’s Roofing to get a quote done for my parents house and right away she was extremely knowledgeable, make me feel comfortable, and so kind. Jake was the one who did the quote and they scheduled us very quickly. My dad decided to sell the house as is and even though we didn’t move forward with the roofing at the time, they still treated us so professionally and kind. We’ve since booked with them to have the roof done at my parents new house that they’re building and again, we’ve received such incredible customer service, professionalism, they work with our schedule, and a great price! We couldn’t be happier. Thank you to the amazing team at Reid’s Roofing.

Carrie-Ann,
thank you for such kind words. It isn't always about a "sale" but more so about the relationship. We offer the best knowledge and customer service we can so our customer is informed, feeling heard and comfortable in their decision. The whole process with building your new home can be overwhelming at times. We are glad we were able to offer some peace of mind and assist you and your father in his roofing needs.
Thank you again and hope you enjoy that green roof!

Reid’s Roofing……will not recommend!!!

I just had my roof replaced by Reid’s roofing.
They say they do things one way……. And actually do it another. I Do not recommend them!!!!!
UPDATE****** I just noticed they also went over some old shingles and did not lay down any membrane or drip edge. Why was this not noticed in the final inspection!!! They were mad they have been out 4 times…. Yet I had to find this. Be prepared to call in a roofer for a final inspection when Reid’s is done. Pics below **********

There were multiple OH&S issues.
First, there was the issue of only ONE worker doing the ENTIRE roof, and without wearing a harness. What if this man fell off the roof?!? What if he fell and got injured or worse….and my CHILD was the one to find him?!?!

Also, it took 2 days - which meant that we couldn’t use the yard because of the overhead work and the nails and debris that were out there. ….. With a full crew, our smaller house would have been done in a day. Also there were HUGE BANGS that shook the house and startled my child, my dog…… and me as well. I’m assuming bundles of shingles being dropped from one level to the lower one. The house shook!!!! I work maintenance and know construction sounds… it was something heavy being dropped.

We are not sure if this man was a subcontractor or part of their staff - regardless, no one ever came to check on him or his work. So you get 1 roofer doing your roof as fast as he can trying to beat the rain , then a “inspector” coming after it’s finished.
Is there the proper number of nails per shingle?!?!?! , are all the barriers laid properly….…..
Supposedly you can tell all that by a final inspection after all shingles are on the roof according to Reid’s roofing.
Reid’s Roofing states the roof is good, BUT they also stated they use crews, harnesses, and inspect during work. WELL I GUESS NOT FOR US!! So if no other rules were followed, how are they so sure my roof was totally done right.?????? !!!!!!!!!!
The malarkey shingles we put on have a huge nailing strip. To have all the low nails is not good. Maybe a bit of a Rush job.

Then there was a lack of communication. We understand that delays happen - but send me emails, call me….they extended some Eavestrough for us and put it down the middle of the garage which we did not want it there. They say they had no direction us…..so why would you not check with the owner first ? Or if your the professional, not ask when it was agreed to during the quote?

The house eavestrough ,garage door , and some siding were left quite dirty when the work was done. We had also picked up quite a few nails after the work was done.
It took the “final inspection” (2 days later) to have things cleaned up. There were also a few other issues, like low nails, siding trim, and flashing not nailed down flat. So now we have multiple caulking spots on our brand new roof , and some that you can see from the front sidewalk.

I work in the Maintenance dept at a Edmonton hospital, and if Reid’s roofing did the same kind of job, we would not be doing business with them again. ( actually they would have been asked to leave for not following oh&s).

My wife was determined to use Reid’s Roofing because they have so many accolades, and came highly recommended….. We are so disappointed. I guess you don’t always get what you pay for.
All I know is what I’ve seen from this company and their good reviews Do Not match up!!!

P.S. So I just had a meeting with Jake. He seemed not to care about the above issues. He stated it was crazy he had to come out 4 times for this issue. Not once did they set a time with us….. wait once, and he was a hour early. I have worked at the Misericordia for 30 years in Maintenance…… and as Jake stated “I don’t know roofing, and your getting a 10 year warranty “. However what I do know is good contractors and in my honest opinion ….this is not one.
I also talked to Jake about the worker. Who is subcontracted. He had admitted about knowing about the unsafe work practices. As my wife and I work in healthcare and deal with work place injuries…..:::this is not cool.

Thank You
All the Best and Take Care!!!!

Another update…..
So 5 areas were redone by Reids. 4 areas where the old shingles were not removed, and new shingles put on top and no drip edge.
I am not happy that the roof passed the final and only inspection, and the customer “ who dose not know roofing” was the one to find the issue.
There have been Many excuses from Reids but no ownership. They say they have been using this installer for years, and I guess I’m the only one he has cut corners with, or no one has gone up and checked their own roofs afterwards?

While Jake was upset with us he had to come out so many times….we are not that happy either. Heck even my neighbors have noticed, and 3 have politely hinted I should have used “their guys”….

Now Reid’s roofing was good at fixing the issues after they were found .
At the end of the day…….Reid’s Roofing might be a good company , but all I have to go on is my experience………And It has Not been a Good one.!! We are all tired and stressed and no one needs extra!!

$8,000.00

Company Response

Firstly we would like to thank you for the opportunity to do business with you and to thank you for your feedback. We would like to take the opportunity to respond to your concerns.
1. Yes we do use sub contractors to carry out a majority of our roof replacements with that said we do ensure their WCB is valid, all their health & safety tickets are up to date. We provide them with a health & safety orientation at the beginning of each season. We recently put in place a full time health & safety coordinator and are actively trying to address these concerns given that sub contracting is the norm for this industry. It is our goal to create the positive change within however these changes do not happen overnight. In the event we have a roofer that is by himself whether that is an in house technician or sub contractor, they are required to be in contact with the office or other staff member throughout the day. In this case, our sub contractor was in contact with our team member throughout the period of his work day.
2. Being that this was a active construction site, there is bound to be loud noises, debris and work carried out. We do have our installers knock on the door prior to commencing work to ensure the homeowner is aware that the work will begin. The day prior to install the primary contact was notified through out the day that the work would commence on the weekend, and that evening notified it would be Saturday morning.
3. At Reid’s roofing we do offer a 10 year workmanship warranty. This particular sub has worked with us for a long period of time. He is aware of our policies and procedures. We trust them to carry out the work as per our expectations in the work order provided. Sometimes this runs into a weekend job where all of our in house staff are not in the field working.; but available if needed. We still do a final inspection and check that the key components are carried out. This can be done after the roof is completed. The final inspection is carried out between 2-5 days after the initial install. The Health and Safety coordinator also takes note and pictures during the in-progress site inspections, although we do not get to ever job in the time that we would like to. This is a continued work in progress.
4. We always do our best to keep the homeowner informed as to when the roof replacement will carry out. The primary contact on the file was one member of the household, not both. This contact was kept in the know with the estimator, office administrator and office manager through the whole process. There was only one phone number and email provided to this customer file.
5. We are confident in our knowledge of the roofing system and although we do not approve of low nails and this is something that we bring up to our installers often; it does happen. We may miss a nail even during our final inspection; this does not void the 10-year workmanship warranty. It is our intention to maintain our reputation and even after the final inspection if a concern comes up after the fact we will come out for a courtesy call to ensure the customer is satisfied and maintain that relationship. Initially we will always give the homeowner the benefit of the doubt if a site visit is required and if it is determined during the site inspection that it is a non-reids issue; generally there is a diagnostics charge. Which is standard in all trades. As stated by the homeowner 4 visits, and a complimentary downpipe adjustment with no specific instructions from the homeowner. Which led to disappointment by the homeowner and led to another service call. This was included in the contract with no additional charge. With the regards to the deficiencies noted by the homeowner they were addressed and cared for.
Lastly we would like to sincerely apologize that your experience was not everything that you hoped for and we as a company have much to take away from this. We have taken this experience to the table and will learn and improve for future customers.
Your experience does not void all the other good reviews that homeowners have taken their own time to share their value and comfort in knowing that they can rely on us for many years to come.
Again thank you for your feedback.

New shingles

Reid’s roofing was very thorough from the office staff that took my call and quoted me to their installers who were friendly and courteous working around my family.
Even though there was a delay due to snow the office staff were great at communicating with me when they would show up and get the work started.
I would use them again and highly recommend.

Roof repair

When we had our roof done by a different company years ago, large gaps were left where the pine shakes thickness was no longer filled by the asphalt shingles. After my daughter heard birds nesting over her bedroom last year we realized it was time to do something about fixing these gaps. When my husband called around in the spring most roofing companies wouldn't even book an appointment for us and our smaller job. Reid's Roofing did. Tamara was a pleasure to talk to with when booking appointments/discussing costs/etc. When Pete came out to deal with our issues, he was punctual, professional, timely, and went above and beyond with fixing our roof (noticing more than the original issue and dealing with them all). Given the slope of our property and roof, this included Pete renting a lift to complete the work. The completed work looks great. Every person I have interacted with at Reid's Roofing has been a pleasure to deal with, and the work that as done went above my expectation, for, what I believe, was a reasonable cost. I would have no problems recommending Reid's Roofing for any roofing needs.

$600.00

Roof repair

I had a handful of shingles blow off the leading edge of my roof in the big wind storm we had a few months back. Reid's was quick to come out for an estimate and actually fit me in to an opening they had earlier than my scheduled repair time to perform the repair. Work was done in a timely manner and the site was left clean.

The one thing I would caution though is they do charge a $150 "diagnostic fee" for coming out and quoting a price that does not come off your charges if you decide to proceed with work (I did not ask if that was the case before hand). They are upfront about the charge but depending on the size of the job it can be exorbitant.

The estimators visit was about 1/2 hr. He spent about a minute on the roof, about 4-5 minutes explaining the repair and the remainder of his time was spent trying to up sell me on additional work and service packages. As mentioned they are upfront about the charge but I was disappointed that I was basically paying them for a sales call.

I understand that estimates take time, fuel etc and often doesn't lead to actually getting the work so I have no problem with a fee (and obviously agreed to it) but the amount of the fee for my particular job in comparison to the amount of time the estimator spent doing the estimate didn't seem to be proportional in my mind. On a large roofing job it would be reasonable, for my job it was 1/3 the cost of my entire repair (repair was $550) and the estimating part literally took no more than 5 or 6 minutes so the cost didn't seem to match with the amount of time spent doing the estimate. For a large job where measuring etc was required it would be reasonable.

$750.00

Firstly, thank you for mentioning the key points here. Quick to respond and moved you ahead in the schedule to perform the repair. I appreciate you sharing your concerns with other homeowners and would like to address each and everyone of those. Our diagnostics charge is fairly common in a lot of different trades. Weather that is roofing, heating and plumbing a service charge is standard. The fact the visit consisted of 5-6 mins looking at the roof is a good sign that it was a simple shingle repair not something more extensive. The repair price includes material and labor. The Sales pitch you speak of is a membership we offer that takes care of not only the roof but your home building envelope. It would have saved you a discount of $200 off your $550 repair. To each their own as it was not for you.
We truly appreciate your business,
Reid's Roofing.
