We hired GTC in October 2013 to do a full kitchen renovation and add a 700 sq foot addition to our split level home. It was supposed to start in January 2014 as that is when GTC said the permits would be in. We moved out of our house January 1st and began renting a condo. They gutted our house with no permits and in March our permit was denied and sent to the committee of adjustments for a minor variance that GTC overlooked. They turned off our water but didn't drain our pipes leading to the pipes freezing which caused flooding in our basement ruining thousands of dollars worth of our stuff. On May 27th 2014 we finally received the building permit. For the next 6 months we dealt with so many issues trying to get our house done. It was a utter nightmare!! We moved home at the end of November even though the house wasn't 100% complete. After living in the home for a couple of weeks we noticed so many problems with the quality of work and contacted GTC to get the issues fixed. They tried to say that there was nothing really wrong with their work and said they would fix any issues that we had in the spring. In February a guest staying at our house noticed leaking water from our eavestrough and we decided to look into our brand new attic to find mold and soaking wet wood sheathing. GTC sent their roofing guy a couple days later. He said we just needed 2 fans and more insulation. At that point we decided to call in Holmes on Homes inspections to do a full home inspection and they found a ton of issues with our house that GTC is responsible for and supposed to fix considering they gave us a 5 year warranty with their job. We phoned the owner Sam 2 weeks ago and he said that he would discuss our inspection report with his team and get back to us with the course of action that they planned on taking to fix all of our issues. We haven't heard from him since and have left several messages via email and voicemail. We drove out to their office this morning to find out that they closed in the middle of the night 2 weeks ago and have claimed bankruptcy.
It will cost us a lot to fix everything and they should be responsible for paying to fix their mistakes.
If anyone wants to contact me and my husband please feel free to email us at mrmaynard75@hotmail.com
We will be attending the Bankruptcy hearing scheduled for March 17th according to what we read on Kyle's review. I encourage everyone that GTC screwed over to attend this hearing.
