I hired and paid GTC to design a kitchen renovation with the hopes that I would use them to do the work. I worked with the sales (Dennis) and architectural staff (Manuel) and all seemed to be going well. I was given a quote based on some preliminary research of $85K - $95K. We were okay with that, and went ahead and did a final quote. After a few weeks they asked us to come into their office for a final quote presentation. At that point I worked with a new person (Michael). He came in with a final quote of $115K. We told him that it was too high and he immediately came down $10K. Hmmm. That was fast. We told him we needed to be within the original quote. He came back to me within a couple of weeks and said he couldn't get to the range of the preliminary quote. Fair enough. So I told him to just send me the plans that I had paid for as we would consider it the following year. That is when I stopped hearing from them. I made calls to both Michael and Dennis about my plans, jobs including smaller jobs I would consider doing in lieu of the kitchen renovation. I was told they would look into it and never heard back for weeks, in fact the entire summer. Finally in September I left a voice message which went unreturned (the Tuesday after Labour Day). Then I spoke to Michael on Sept 11 and just straight out asked for my plans back. He said he would send them. After no plans I called again on September 22 and left a message for him which went unreturned.
Finally I asked my husband to call on the 23rd. And wouldn't you know I had my plans within two days. Very frustrated they would only respond to my husband when I had been politely dealing with them all along (and no my husband didn't yell, he asked nicely as well!). Unacceptable in my book.
Before all this "lack of responsiveness" occurred we were actually thinking of using this company. But after what I have experienced I will be taking my business elsewhere.
