We are sorry you find the stair charge high, fair is sometimes considered a relative term. It is industry standard to charge extra for taking any piano over a stair obstacle. Any stairs on a piano move, can significantly increase the time and risk of damage to both the piano, the home and the movers. Moving a piano over 5 steps or more together in a group, is considered an industry standard definition for what movers considered a flight of stairs. As you mentioned, you had 6 steps which would definitely be considered a flight of stairs. We always tell all our customers up front about this charge, so that there is no surprise when we arrive. While there is some variations between movers, I can assure you, that our stair charge is very consistent with the industry in our area. Hope that helps clarify the stair charge you were asking about.
