Khalsa Construction Inc.

After evaluating three quotes, I finally zeroed on Khalsa Construction. I was referred Khalsa by one of my old friends. This work was in Lower Beach, Toronto, and was refused by two other construction companies as it was complicated and technical. Khalsa Construction also has Insurance cover, which helps just in case things go wrong. I strongly recommend Khalsa Construction to one and all for reliable work, timely completion, and value for money. We hired Khalsa Construction for footing & Foundation for our second floor addition.
JD is very knowledgeable , always responded to our calls and provided suggestions wherever possible.
JD would make sure, the scope of work outlined in the contract would be completed. There were delays due to heavy rain but JD managed to reschedule and complete the work with in agreed time.

My brother and I were looking for the right people and crew/team to get the job done in a said amount of time . We had a 5 foot basement dug out into a 8 foot basement , the job was done on time and exceeded our expectations. Fully satisfied and would 100% call Khalsa Construction back for another job if not all my jobs.

We hired Khalsa to replace another underpinning contractor who we fired for poor and unsafe workmanship who did not follow the engineer's design and specifications. Khalsa came in with heavy duty jackhammers and first removed the old bench footings to correct the work of the previous contractor and proceeded to complete the underpinning on-time and to a great result. They used the over pour method of underpinning and followed the engineer's design and recommendations. We're very happy with the result and are currently using them on another legal duplex conversion project in downtown Toronto where we will also be using Khalsa to put in a basement walkout.

We took 5 quotations from underpinning contractors, shortlisted 2 and finally hired Khalsa Construction to do underpinning our basement and do concrete foundation at our house.
Pleasant experience, this guys know what there are doing. On our first meeting with JD we were pleased by the honest suggestion given by him. He answered all our concerns and provided us the proof of insurance as that was the key thing for us.
Project was handed on time, at given price and everything inspected by city of Toronto.
For Underpinning basement I will anytime refer Khalsa Construction.

Over a year later there are contractually agreed upon items that are incomplete. If you have a serious desire to manage your own project and an endless amount of time and patience maybe. I don't know where to start with this debacle. Getting workers to show up was like pulling teeth. We were lucky to get 2 workers to show up at the same time. By his own workers admission, he takes on too many projects and spreads his resources too thin. It also doesn't help that he doesn't appropriately pay his workers for the work he expects them to do. So the employee turnover rate is EXTREAMLY high. There are so many reasons why I wouldn't hire Khalsa again. If JD estimates 1 week of work, expect it to take 1 month. If JD says that he'll use a conveyor belt, don't bet on one showing up. When you ask him about it he'll state that he gets to decide when and where to use his equipment. Expect to have to chase JD to get even one worker to show up. I wouldn't use Khalsa again even if the work was free. JD will provide a myriad of excuses about why he missed deadline after deadline after deadline, but at the end of the day, his lack of experienced and appropriately paid workers lead to over a year of setbacks. I would not recommend Khalsa to anyone.

They were great and did an awesome job in my basement. They were very efficient! I also appreciated the fact that JD was very easy to get a hold of and he would return calls as soon as he possible. He kept me up to date on things!
