Horrible experience with our lawn mower
Greg MAY have been a good and honest guy in the past but our first experience with him this past month will definitely be our last. My husband brought our gas lawn mower to him to fix the pull string that broke (the mower ran smoothly and perfectly besides the broken pull string when dropped off). Husband left the lawn mower with Gregs dad who works for him and told him to fix the string and give it a tune up (sharpen the blades and whatever else might need to be done as a regular maintenance. He also told Greg the same thing when he called before dropping it off to see if he could fix it and how long. My husband picked up the lawn mower about 5 days later (originally told It would be ready the next day) and confirmed with Greg that the string was fixed, blades were sharpened and required maintenance was done on it. He also never given a written invoice stating what was actually done. When I went to cut the grass a day later, I found that the pull string was way too long and it kept making a lagging sound. The following week, my husband cut the grass and found the same thing so he called Greg and dropped it off to him that same day which was a Friday. He told him the pull string was too long and that he needed to see why its making these lagging sounds that we never had before we dropped it off to him. Greg told him it would be ready the next day. Called the next day and they said it would be ready Tuesday. Called Tuesday and got voicemail saying they were away on holidays and would be back in a week! 8 days later my husband drove by the shop because they werent answering their phone. Greg was working on it when he got there and said it wasnt starting which surprised my husband because we never had any problems prior to leaving it with him! Hubby tried to start the mower himself and it worked. Asked Greg if he fixed the lagging problem and Greg just shrugged his shoulders! My husband was shocked by this ignorant answer and asked if he could do something to fix it because we already paid him and he said no so he asked if he could have his money back since he didnt fix anything but actually made it worse. Greg flat out said no. $200 down the drain!!! To top it off, the pull string is still too long (he didnt even fix that!) and now we have a lawn mower that runs WORSE than when we dropped it off. Greg tried to say that my husband didnt tell him the problems and my husband said he told his dad when he dropped it off but apparently that wasnt good enough even though its a family run business and his dad works with him! There are no other words besides saying that this is a classic case of a someone who clearly shouldnt be in business anymore. Totally disgusted with the lack of professionalism and customer service from this guy. I hope that this review will warn people to not bring their business to him because he clearly doesnt care about his business or customers and has no ethics. For a small town like Georgetown and trying to support local, Greg has really left a sour taste in our mouths and we would never recommend him to anyone!
