A rather damaging basement flood left us needing to redo the bottom half of the drywall in our basement as well as a couple of new studs. Water damage in a basement is a very uncomfortable feeling for not only do you have to worry its going to happen again, but have to come up with ways of making it not happen again. When water comes into your basement its not the outside of the drywall that should be worrisome, its the backside and the inside of your walls that should be checked. Not only may you find mold, but you may also notice that the wood holding up your walls have begun to rot. This is your sign to replace the framing and drywall along with the insulation before things get a lot worse.
