We purchased a new home and deliberately scheduled the condition date fulfillment to be after Rick conducted the home inspection for us. I found Rick to be very responsive initially in setting our schedule and subsequently to have great communication via phone and email for everything pertaining to the home inspection. He showed up onsite early and stayed several hours with me following him around asking many questions and discussing all the various matters of the home. After having lived in the new house for just over a month we've found every single item he noted required the fix he suggested. Backed up plumbing, lack of cold air returns, water spots on the ceiling - you name it, he knew his stuff and knew the right resolution. He was extremely detail oriented with many pictures to remind each of us of the various items reviewed and did an excellent job of reviewing everything that needed to be going over. Above and beyond that he's a great guy, the time went by really fast as he was very likable and just a down to earth easy going guy. I've already recommended his service to others and will continue to do so. I'm glad we waited for him to do the inspection (Just 3 business days, but our seller was impatient to set an early close date on conditions) and will definitely use him again next time we are in the market for a new home.

Rick at Strand Home Inspection was very professional...very knowledgeable and friendly...he takes his time to explain you everything while going through the home inspection...and does not care about the home owner or realtor or anybody else has to say about the house...he does the home inspection for you alone and dedicates the day for you. Rick is incredibly thorough. We were a bit skeptical of how uniformly excellent the reviews were, but after having him inspect a home we were going to purchase we know that his reputation is well deserved. He takes his job very seriously and seems to be genuinely concerned about safety concerns. He welcomed us to follow him and ask questions while he did the inspection. He answered our questions readily and was very knowledgeable.

This was our second Rick Strand inspection. He saved us from a lot of unexpected chaos and financial strain the first time around (see my review from July 8, 2014). When we started house hunting again we tapped into what we'd learned from the first inspection before getting too excited about another house. We finally found a house we love and had Rick inspect it. Rick did a great job for a home inspection of a house that we were purchasing. He was very thorough and spent over 4 hours on the inspection, which was well documented on the report he provided us. Although we were not present for the inspection (our Real Estate Agent was there), we were very happy with the telephone conversation we had after with him and the PDF document that was comprehensive enough to cause us to require the seller to make changes to the house before we would agree to the purchase. I had the absolutely pleasure of working with Rick while he did a home inspection on a condo I am purchasing. Not only was he timely, he was exceptionally professional and he explained things to me very well thought out and thorough. We always use another home inspection company whenever we purchase a new home, however, after reading the incredible reviews on Rick, we thought we would give him a try, and we are sure glad we did. Rick is very professional, honest, and extremely thorough. He arrived at the home before we did. He spent 3.5 hours with us reviewing every inch of the house. He was extremely patient and took time to answer our questions. At the end of the inspection we had a thorough understanding of what issues needed to be addressed and the nuances of the house (including where all the important turn off valves were located in the house). The inspection report in and of itself is very detailed and outlines everything that he reviewed with us and then some. Our only regret is that we didn't find him sooner! Thanks Rick

We had him come out after we had moved into our house and are extremely happy with his work. After following him around for 4 hours I feel like I know our new home inside-out, and we feel at ease knowing what we will likely have to spend money on over the next 5-10 years.

Rick performs a thorough inspection and enjoys educating his customers on the various aspects of a house. He sent his detailed report through that night, and it will be something we refer to for many years in the future when identifying the cause of issues or looking into renovations.

I know two other couples who have used Rick and recommend him also, having had a similar experience.

My only advice is to book him as early as possible, as he gets more calls than he can manage!

Rick was introduced to us through a friend who wanted him to be his inspector but couldn’t since Rick was fully booked at that time. We feel so lucky to have worked with Rick! He works independently, avoiding any influence from any realtors. He came a couple of minutes earlier to start from house surrounding. Then he climbed the roof. He checked through every corner of the house. Meanwhile, Rick is so skilled and he scared us, my husband and me. He is really PICKY! He checked totally 3 houses for us until we found the good 3rd one. The first house on which we had an offer had a crack on the foundation wall from basement window down to the basement floor. One month later was the 2nd house but it didn’t work out either, because the suite bathroom leaked and also the hallway bathroom showed leakage stains. From then on, based on what we learned from the home inspections by Rick, we carefully checked through the houses before making an offer, and finally we found a good one! And the inspection confirmed it that the 3rd house is worth to buy! And we didn’t regret at all not taking the previous two houses. We used to be scared of Rick but we appreciate so much his help! From Rick we learned a lot, for example, how to deal with negative grading, what is Poly B, how a deck should be built, what is the recommended hot water temperature for safety if you have kids, etc. His report is informative and very clear to read with all the photos to show and explain. IN a word, we surely recommend our friends to book Rick to be their home inspector!!
