Reliable fair plumber.

Kyle has been our go-to plumber and gas fitter for the past 8 years. He has done the plumbing for a beautiful bathroom renovation at our house, and thoughtfully added in an access hatch (for free) to ensure easy maintenance in the future. We have also called him a couple of times with emergencies (pipe leak, etc.) and he was able to walk us through very simple repair instructions step by step and save us a massive plumbing bill. Same thing with a toilet issue: his info and a quick call to the manufacturer netted us the free part and we were able to do it ourselves. His work is meticulous and as you can see he does not find reasons to over-charge or do unnecessary work.
His company also did work for our strata and he saved us a big headache by replacing some water shut-off valves that were about to fail. He also advocated for us to the City and got them to fix a leak that was on their side of a valve not ours, which they were refusing to do.
Honest work, clean and tidy, done to code and exceeds standards, reliable, fairly priced. Can’t ask for better.

Kyle was available on short notice after we had a leaking dishwasher emergency from a terrible craigslist hire. He did a great job and in a timely manner, and gave us a discount because of our situation. I will absolutely go with him again.

American Standard Toilets

We have 3 American Standard toilets installed originally by a previous owner in 2003 - apparently the "American" version - nothing fancy. However, we had MANY plumbers come to look at one of the toilets in particular as the water seemed to be leaking from the tank and then needed to be filled up again about 10 minutes later. All of the previous plumbers couldn't help and the toilet had to be turned on and off to avoid wasting too much water. The sound was annoying too. This went on for about 1 year. One plumber even suggested that the whole toilet needed to be replaced!

Then one day we received an advertisement at our door from McLaren Plumbing. I called Kyle McLaren and did my best to describe the problem with the toilet and how all other plumbers seemed to be miffed. I also sent digital pictures. At the first visit, Kyle immediately figured out that the problem was a small orange rubber seal that had become irregular and was not holding the water in the tank.

Besides being a primo diagnostician, Kyle also provided exemplary customer service as the particular seals for our "American" American Standard toilets were not available at any of the regular plumbing supply places in Vancouver. He finally ordered online from Korky and installed new seals in all 3 toilets.
He also fiddled with toilet handles and things inside of the other toilet tanks so that everything is perfect now.

In summary, KyleMcLaren of McLaren Mechanical provided the following:
-Exemplary diagnostics
-Exemplary customer service
-Exemplary expertise about plumbing products as we discussed installing a new high efficiency water heater in the new year
-And all at competitive prices.

Don't bother to call anyone else....

Plumbing contracting

Check qualifications for a custom home vs. a speculation home. hindsight probably qualified for a subdivision 30 house project contracting vs. detail oriented plumber for high end custom home projects. His attention to detail was minimal.
