Ashlar Landscapes

I had cruised through Homestars looking for a recommended landscape contractor to tear down a raised stone deck and rebuild the staircase and add a new stone patio at ground level. I had read the reviews of many contenders but only two responded to my plea ! Pricing was critical and i needed to stay on budget as i had many projects to finish this spring and summer season to meet the deadline of a family wedding.
Daimon came to visit to view the scope of the job and made a quote within 48 hours. What impressed me was that Daimon was willing to reuse some of the orginial stone from the old structure to try to save cost. I am most pleased with the end result and Daimon quoted price never waivered. His crew were prompt and cleaned the site everyday. Thank you Daimon it was a pleasure!

I hired Daimon recently to landscape the front of my house. His quote was in line with others but I was impressed with his enthusiasm and knowledge. I had to wait a couple of extra weeks for him to start but it was worth it. The finished product is great. The walk looks terrific and the couple of changes to the plan he suggested were right on. There was a slight glitch with the colour of one of the stones and Daimon fixed it immediately. Clearly he wants his customers to be happy - and I am. My neighbours seem to like it too - I've had several people stop and comment on how great it looks. Thanks Daimon!

We had Ashlar Landscapes out to do our driveway expansion and garden beds. We couldnt have asked for a better company! Very professional and made sure we understood what was happening each step of the way. Would definately recommend Ashlar to anyone else.

After the company who originally agreed to do my walkway did not show up on the previously agreed upon day of work (after we demolished the existing concrete path, leaving a mud path) and sent us a rude and drunk text message at 1am that morning, we decided we should find someone else. I logged onto Homestars and called the top 6-7 rated companies. I knew it was a long shot - it was late May and I was well aware how busy landscapers were. Daimon was only 1 of 2 people who called me back. I asked if he could squeeze us in as it was a small job. He agreed and sent over a quote that day. He was very communicative with us, and gave us the heads-up that he was coming a couple days in advance. He showed up when he said he would, was exceptionally pleasant, and very professional. He left the job site cleaner when he left than when he arrived. He completed the pathway in a day even though his saw broke late in the afternoon and he had to go rent another (instead of just calling it a day). The end result is amazing! He made style and design suggestions to us that were very smart and greatly improved the look of the walkway. I asked him to draw up a quote for our back patio while he was there so would definitely work with him again and would definitely HIGHLY recommend him to others!

We just recently had Daimon and his crew come back for a landscaping job in June 2010 to compliment the stone work he installed for us in 2009. With the previous work, we understandably had high expectations and once again Daimon didn't disappoint. A beautifully contoured garden was created with a wonderful selection of shrubs, flowering plants and a tree and further enhanced with some gourgeous limestone boulders.
Daimon is a real gem and such a pleasure to deal with. The work is done swiftly, punctuated with regular updates, all questions are answered and as was the case last year the bill came in as quoted.
We will absolutely have Ashlar back in future. There is simply no need to look elsewhere.

He showed up to our house for our initial appointment and quickly got to work providing us with a comprehensive estimate of exactly what we were looking for. Daimon and his crew of 2 arrived on site exactly when promised and within a week we had a beautiful driveway of interlocking stone - a huge improvement over our original gravel drive! Working with Daimon was great - one of the best contractors we have had. He is easy to get along with, patiently answers all questions (we had a lot!) and made sure we were up to speed on the project as it progressed. When he gave us his invoice at the end of the week it was exactly what was quoted - and to sweeten the deal, he has PayPal on his website, so we were able to pay with our credit card and collect air miles. We saw the reviews for Forest Hills Design group (now Ashlar Landsacpes--Ed) on Homestars and decided to call them. We met with Daimon and were very impressed with his knowledge and his ideas for replacing our retaining wall. We received a detailed quote for the work to be done and that was the price we paid. We are very happy with the result. It was better than we could even have imagined. Working with Daimon, Terry and Scott was a very pleasant and stress free experience. They are professional, reliable, knowledgeable and approachable. There is no guess work with them; they arrived when they said they would arrive and informed us when weather prohibited them working. We are so happy to have found them. Not only do we highly recommend them to anyone seeking landscaping work but we hope we will have the opportunity to hire them again when we decide to take on additional projects in our backyard.

We met Daimon of Forest Hills (now Ashlar Landscapes--Ed) after meeting with 2 other contractors. He was the only one who was able to listen and understand what we were looking for while coming up with some other great ideas that complemented ours perfectly! We needed our entire backyard landscaped as it was completely bare. Daimon designed a beautiful plan that included a large stone patio, walkways, and tree rings to go along around several large trees.
Daimon showed up on the day he promised with a crew of two, ready to get to work. They moved quickly, and he easily accepted a few changes we wanted to make as they went along. The end result is BEAUTIFUL! Since the project was completed at the end of July, we have had numerous dinner parties and BBQs and the compliments on our yard are nonstop.
Bottom Line - we would absolutely recommend Forest Hills to anyone! We were so pleased with the outcome and working with Daimon was one of the best experiences we have had with a contractor. He was so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the entire process. We know that for any future work we want done we will definitely use Forest Hills Design Group!

After contacting a number of companies, we eventually narrowed our search to two. While both had received very favourable reviews on this site, we were amazed by the substantial price difference between both (almost 20%). Since we felt the other company had given us an inflated quote and as we had a limited budget we went with FHDC (I have to confess with some second guessing as per the adage “you get what you pay for”). Giving us some comfort was the positive first impression that Forest Hills owner, Daimon Ferguson, made when we met him.

From start to finish this was a dream project (I am in no way connected to Forest Hills less the enthusiasm of my review raises that question). Immediately after meeting with Daimon we received a detailed quote. He committed to commence the work on a specific date and he did! We had been prepared for work on the project to stop and start as other client demands surfaced. However, Daimon and his team turned up early each morning and worked non-stop through supper time, until the project was completed in record time.

Daimon is the consummate professional, he takes great pride in his work and his attention to detail is amazing. He couldn't have treated our project any better if it were his own home. His guidance and suggestions as the design evolved were invaluable. Even once work started he was extremely flexible to design changes to make sure we were 100% happy with the final look. He had tremendous patience as we hummed and hawed about what we actually wanted, eventually guiding us to a project that we both love and which has greatly enhanced the value of our home. We have already had people at our door asking for his card.

We had waited a long time to do this project and couldn’t be happier with the final result. The quote and final invoice were exactly the same, no hidden costs, even when our design changes expanded slightly....

My wife and I having nothing but glowing words for the job just recently completed (July 2009). Daimon did an outstanding job transforming the front of our house with stone the length of our walkway and on our porch as well as a beautiful new garden wall.
