We engaged Bart Szoke Architect Inc to design a new house in the Cliffcrest/Guildwood area of Scarborough. The architect was very attentive to our specific requirements, proposing design solutions resulting in the house of our dreams. Bart was very easy to work with and his extensive knowledge of construction assisted in keeping the project on budget. Bart’s experience with approvals resulted in timely processing of the many permits. He was a helpful resource and support through the construction phase. We need to add an entire floor to our house in East Toronto plus doing major Reno in the rest of house. We wanted a very premium rendering while getting reasonable rate.
After interviewing 4 different architects, we have selected Bart and his firm.
We have been extremely happy with that choice. Not only he was easy to work with but he was also very proactive at giving us new options to the many choices we had to make during the process. Some architects will have a strong ego and won’t be listening to what you really want: Bart and his team are the opposite. They will always design your option so you can make the best choice for you and your family. Bart is also very soft spoken which makes him very approachable. Finally, Bart has many years of experience running his own construction firm which helps to challenge pre construction quotes and contractor during the work. A great choice for your major Reno.

Bart is a reliable anchor in what is usually quite a stressful and hectic part of life. His work is of high quality and is done in a timely manner. He will walk you through the process and help you with permits and even the contract if you want to. His best attribute is perhaps his willingness to listen to and accommodate your needs.

We highly recommend Bart, who helped us with the difficult task of renovating our 105-year-old home.
We had a lot of ideas and some preliminary plans ahead of our meetings, and Bart thoughtfully assembled them into a workable scheme. He also gave us great advice on submitting plans to the City, going through the Committee of Adjustment process and the addition of the required systems, such as HRV. We are now completely enjoying our home and are grateful to him for his much-needed assistance.

We are doing a total gut of the house as well as adding an addition connected to the original with an atrium. Bart’s ideas meshed extremely well with our own ideas for a contemporary design. We are very pleased with the progress thus far. We did run into some design problems with sight lines for our ravine, and had to come to a compromise on redesigns here. 3D walkthroughs of the project before finalizing the design could have prevented this problem.

The project was a renovation of the first floor of a bungalow. It covered the bathroom, kitchen, living room, and bedrooms. As the it is a bungalow it required some creative solutions to make everything fit in a relatively unit. Bart's layout and design ideas were a great help on making the layout work. They managed the process from the drawings to obtaining the building permits.

We enjoyed working with Bart. He came up with some great ideas for dealing with a long and narrow house and also a way to brighten up the second floor. He helped navigate the city and variances needed as well.

The contractor was a problem and Bart attempted to help there but there was only so much he could do on that end with respect to fixing the mistakes that were construction errors not design errors.

We have a story and a half Etobicoke home and doubled the size with the addition. When Bart presented his ideas I was very excited with the plans. His design was beautiful and now we have recently moved in. His ideas were so good I almost couldn't believe that it would happen but here we are and the space is everything we dreamed of.
He was pleasant to work with and was responsive during construction.

Bart provided us with drawings for our permit application. He gave us a schedule at the beginning and delivered pretty much on the date he'd told us. We had a few items that got forgotten or missed but he fixed them once we noticed. Overall, was a great experience and we'd work with him again.

Bart Szoke came to our house several times and worked hard to get us what we needed. His costs were reasonable and there were no hidden costs. Very responsive.
