Lowell came in to provide an estimate for accommodations for an aging parent but ended up repairing and renovating our basement handyman special bathroom. There was a lot of repair work necessary to undo and then redo the 20 year old work but Lyons Home Improvement was up to the task and provided skilled professionals as needed.

The work excellent and professional. If we had questions everyone took the time to explain the process and why repairs were needed or how they were being done to enhance the work. Everyone connected with the job was polite, friendly and very helpful in keeping things within the price range while providing the best results.

I would not hesitate to call Lowell and his group back to work on my home. We have praised the work and recommended Lyons Home Improvement to our friends and relatives.

After our Master Bathroom reno with Lyons Home Improvements, we invited them back to do our basement. The basement was pretty much unfinished, so we started from scratch. After helping us finalize a layout that maximized the usable space in the basement, Lowell coordinated plumbing, electrical, windows, a walk-out (to be completed this spring since we started the project late in fall), framing, drywalling/plaster, spray-foam insulation, HVAC (rearranged vents for more headroom) - I think you get the picture - he's got a guy for all your needs. Like our bathroom, Lowell sweated the details - where to put doors, lights, switches - etc. He was quite responsive as we made changes along the way including adding a kitchenette. Both Lowell and his crew are friendly, and respectful while on the job. They take the initiative and ensure that you are aware if anything unexpected comes up. We also have a toddler who still takes naps; Lowell made sure we knew when noisy work was going to take place or tried to schedule around our son's activities. At the end of the day, you get what you ask for and some great insights and suggestions along the way - great value for money - we would recommend them and invite them back again.

We first contacted Lowell on a recommendation from a colleague over 3 years ago. We were nervous to start a new renovation after a bad project with a large big box company on a previous renovation. However, we really enjoying working with Lowell on our basement renovation. He started the project on time and stayed on the reno until it was done. He met with us each day to update the schedule and review any issues. He completed the work competently and on budget.

Following the basement project, Lowell has done two other renovations for us.

First was a guest bathroom renovation which was a complete gut and refit. Lowell completed the work on time using a proper plumber and electrician, the work passed inspection on the first go.

Our third renovation with Lowell involved converting our top floor apartment back to family space. This project included converting the old kitchen to a large master bathroom and repairs to the bedrooms after 30 years of rental wear and tear.

We were very pleased with the outcome with all our projects, we have recommended him to friends, two of which have also complete projects with Lowell.

Lowell has always worked with us on the budget and provided advice on finishes and design to help us achieve the look we wanted for the money we had set aside.

Lowell and his crew did an amazing job turning our basement from a concrete, totally unfinished space into a great space for our family. Lowell listened to what we wanted, communicated well with us to keep us up to date on how the job was going, was always on time, was polite and friendly, and did fantastic work! Lowell did a wonderful job bringing our 1930-40 house back to its original charm. He worked diligently replacing old ceiling tiles with drywall and crown moulding, replacing old linoleum with beautifully set tiles and discovered (and preserved) original hardwood flooring in our front hall. Lowell was precise in making each corner square in a house that doesn’t have one perfect angle. Lowell and his team were courteous, hard working and knowledgeable. I would recommend Lowell highly and will definitely use him again.

After some bad experiences with other contractors, Lowell was recommended to us by one of his many satisfied customers. That was a complete second floor renovation ago. His knowledge, professionalism, work ethic and skill have exceeded our expectations and we will continue to hire his services for our future home improvement projects.

It quickly became apparent that the standard of his workmanship is gauged by what he would insist be done in his own home. I never worried about a short cut being taken and this conscientious trait is one of his stronger selling points.

Honest, straight forward, tells you like it is without a conniving bone in his body. Qualities you look for in friends...a bonus when dealing with a contractor! All I can say is, you won't be disappointed - he simply doesn't allow it.

We hired Lowell to reno our master bathroom on the recommendation of our realtor. He made an immediate positive impression with his recommendations and considerations to improve on our design. From a work perspective, he is efficient, conscientious and meticulous. Case in point on the latter – I came up with a complex tile design for the shower. He laid out the tiles on the floor to recreate the design and optimize the look and alignment from all angles. The final product was a perfectly balanced tile job with no “goofy” small pieces of tile in obvious places or errors made on the fly. He took the time to get it right the first time. Part of the reason he did this, was that he got to know us. He understood our likes and dislikes (especially mine), paid attention to those details. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s not just about the finish – for example, he used water-proof membrane in the shower to ensure that we would never have to destroy the tile work because of something so basic as a leak.
Lowell also managed all the trades he brought in (e.g. plumbing and electrical). That meant that while my wife was worrying about her impending labour, she didn’t have to worry about who was coming when. In fact, Lowell was still working when we brought our baby home from the hospital. As tired and stressed as we were on the baby front, we never lost sleep over the reno. There were a few delays on the project due to the marble company we went with, but Lowell was mostly able to use his time effectively so that we lost the least amount of time possible. He is also not like contractors who bounce between jobs – he is with you day in and day out until the job gets done. How refreshing. We found him fairly priced, respectful and talented – which is why we brought him back to do our crown moulding and baseboards. I would definitely recommend him and will continue to use him.

Since my last post Lowell has built a treehouse for my kids, replaced my outside deck boards, rebuilt my mudroom and just completed my main floor washroom. With 5 jobs under his belt in my home he is definately my contractor for life!!!

We asked for 5 quotes to do our basement renovation. Lowell's quote was the best by far, not only was the price right, you could tell that he was going to make sure that the project was done well, on budget and completed on time. His slogan is "one job at a time", and we experienced that focus on our project throughout the completion of the basement.
His suggestions were well thought out and help our basement reach its full potential by maximizing our living space. His team of electicians and plumbers were all very professional and excellent at their trade. Lowell was at work first thing in the morning, always kept us informed, and kept his trades on track. He was very clean and tried to make sure that we were never inconvenienced. At the end of the job he made sure that everything was done properly and to our satisfaction.
At the end of the project, the basement was beyond our expectations, completed on schedule and was within budget.
I would highlly recommend Lowell and will hire him again for our next project.
