Sam The Handyman

I had a small drip from my roof where an old contractor had installed a kitchen vent. I called Sam due to his high rating on homestars to take a look at the problem. The first thing he told me was the other contractor had no clue what he was doing and that the kitchen vent needed to be aluminum, to replace it and the washroom one would be $400.00. The next day we we had a giant storm and the small drip turned into a running tap causing my kitchen ceiling to collapse. I called SAM and he came by to do this horrid job on my room adding tons of shingles everywhere convinced that it was the valley on my roof. Not too long later, the next big rainfall and still the roof is leaking just as bad, but this time with mismatched shingles. I called SAM again and he clearly tells me his job was NOT to fix the leak but replace the kitchen vents. What bullshit, he is not the upright guy that many people make him out to be, especially if the work he does doesn't work. He talks the talk, but when the work he does actually sucks, they will find some way of weasling out of coming back out. I do not recommend him, go with a trust company that has a brick and mortar location that you can visit and can guarantee their work on paper than verbally. Take my advice people, you'll save alot of money.

I hired Sam the handyman to replace some shingles that were blown off recently. Sam was polite and professional. He showed up on time and completed the work as described. I would highly recommend Sam to anyone who has roof work to be done.

I used Sam for some roof work last year and this year he capped my chimney. I no longer needed it and he did a great job! He took down over ten layers of brick and cemented a cap on top. It is solid and I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Yes we would recommend Sam and his crew immensely to anyone that needs work done! Not only does he do a great job, on time, prompt service, etc....but he goes out of his way to answer any questions you may have on future jobs, or just things in general you would like to know. He keeps in touch by emailing, and really keeps you informed of when he's coming. Sam's definitely the man !!!!

Two words: Sam rocks. I do not say this lightly.

First of all, he arrived promptly. Second, he provides value added services that you as a homeowner would have no idea about. For example, he repaired my vent which a raccoon destroyed by clawing at it. So what did he do? Not only did he repair the vent but he installed chicken wire mesh on top so that those raccoons can't touch it easily again! For fascia board repair, he used a sturdier metal than that flimsy aluminum you can find at the hard ware store. He also points out when there are potential problems that the homeowner should be aware about. Why is this important? Because he is your eyes and ears, in places where you might not have access to, such as the roof.

He is also very willing to give a hand in other spots, such as certain nails that were sticking out, he took care of this as well. And he is full of very useful information. I do alot of research myself and am very tech saavy, and even I learned a thing or two after speaking to him about some of the repairs.

In this work you need someone you can count on. Sam is that guy. Count on this review, and give him a try.

Last year I called Sam to help me finish an uncompleted job done by a very bad roofer. Sam was very fast in responding to my email, he came promptly and assessed what has to be done. He was timely with work scheduled, very polite and helpful. He finished the work on time. It has been a year now and I am 100% satisfied with his work. Last week few shingles, that were installed by the previous roofer came off after a windstorm so I sent Sam an email and he replied within 15 minute. He said he will come to fix it after the weekend and he did. He is honest, reliable and now I want to use Sam’s services always.

Sam was responsive to communications, open to negotiation, timely with work scheduled, polite and pleasant to chat with, worked cleanly, finished work on time and on budget agreed to. The reviews are right-Sam is simply wonderful. He was introduced to us this winter after the storm. He came promptly , assessed what had to be done and the work was carried out expertly and as per the promised schedule. The quality of the work is exquisite. He kept in touch and it was thrilling between patients to check the email photos of the progress on my chimneys; I’d never even seen them really before. Got to love Sam! Did our roof 5yrs. ago. A year later raccoons ripped up our washroom vent - he fixed it - 4yrs. later they ripped it up again - Sam to the rescue - NO CHARGE !. Friendly, honest and reliable. We will only use Sam for our household needs.

I contacted Sam-the handyman, and left a message. He retunred my call ASAP. I was very happy with the work that was completed, and I would defently reccomend family and friends. No concerns.
