Fixed a connection in a ceiling light

Edit: It turned out that the invoicing had been done by staff in the owner's absence. On returning from holiday he contacted me with an apology and a refund for the entire invoice.

Happy to recommend them.

We used Java Electric to do electrical work in my office building. The work was done to a good standard and at a reasonable price.

I then called Java Electric to take a look at a ceiling light in my home that had stopped working. I received a call back two days after leaving a message on their voicemail - not unreasonable during busy times - and made an appointment for the following day.

The electrician arrived on time and fixed the fault - a broken light fitting - in under an hour. It was when the bill arrived when things got ugly. His hourly rate, for the first hour, was $165, with tax the invoice came to $180 for less than an hour's work.

My usual electrician told me he would have done the job for $60, all in. When I called to enquire about the cost, I was told that that was it and there was nothing they were prepared to do.

They have lost all of my future business. Their work is of good quality, but the pricing is ridiculous.

Approximate cost of services:
$180.00
