Full Basement Renovation with Framing and Insulation, Adding 2 bathrooms and Laundry room. Plus Flooring and painting all Over the house

We hired Kalos Construction Now acting as M.Home Reno. On signing we paid them 500$ and on the first day of work we paid them 12500$ as outlined on the contract. Kalo Construction Representative said he will provide drawings or plans for the home renovation . He also stated there were no need for permits since they will be using existing plumbing. He also stated that his Company is wsib cleared for the type of work and have license for electrical and plumbing and General contractor. We asked them to provide these license and kept getting excuses, which eventually turned into anger and threats. They demolished our basement and home and reused 50 yrs old insulation. When questioned about it he said it was not in the scope of work when it was clearly outlined in the contract we signed with him. This also included framing and electrical work. They did all the electrical and plumbing Themselves while not really qualify to do so. They covered live wires behind drywall, placed plumbing on cold zone with no venting, They damaged equipment and appliances ...with all that; They never pulled a permit with the ESA or permit for the city since he was installing new plumbing. We told him permits were needed and he refused to assist. After a week of work we started questioning Their ethics and professionalism, When we found an electrical access box in the middle of a Stand up shower, the plumbing was done with no slope and a 90 degree T mounted upside down, there was no venting for plumbing evacuation, the washroom exhaust was venting into the dryer, The vent of the dryer was Mounted against the Flow. The electrical work in the basement was not done by a licensed electrician and Kalos construction now M. Home Reno has One man as plumber electrician HVAC tech and tiler. When the Esa visited the house with the city inspector we were told to stop all work. The Inspectors and contractors were called in. Major deficiencies were found. Like and HVAC duct supporting a wall with screws thru the duct. We told them many times about the problems and instead They threatened a lien on our home. We terminated his service within less than two weeks of starting the job and they took some material we bought and left out our entire home gutted and in a mess. They are not professional and They have no knowledge in building code and Ethics. The Company Representative of Kalos Construction now M. Home Reno; refused to provide insurance for water damage they have caused and he refused to correct all deficiencies. We will be suing them for the damages done to our home. Customers beware, this company is a risk!

Renovations- customers be warned

I am a designer and had worked with this company before. They were excellent at removing stucco! Clean, friendly and honest.

They did a second renovation for me.This was a bathroom/laundry combination within a private residence. That was fine too!

Then, they started to demo two bathrooms, in a multi storey condominium unit and the wheels fell off!
Kalos flooded the condo within ten minutes.
Kalos was not hired to do electrical or plumbing work. This was clearly stated and understood.

I shall give him credit that he had insurance.

The moral of the story- contractors can change the crews and the calibre of the work can change with that.

Needless to say, the project has been a nightmare for the owners and for myself. The insurance is covering the new floor- for the entire suite...that is a whole other project entirely.

The contractors that took over are AMAZING! I am truly blessed by them.
