Full knob-and-tube rewire

We have recently tackled a classic Toronto reno project requiring, amongst other things, a full rewire of the existing knob-and-tube rewiring.

We tendered to four companies and, during the quotation inspection, were impressed by Alex's professional approach and prompt response, which greatly informed our decision to opt for Mapleleaf Electric over their competition (as they were not the lowest bidders).

We contacted Alex again just before the reno started to discuss sequencing and coordination between Mapleleaf and the other contractors. Alex was helpful and flexible, even asking to start early (on a holiday Monday no less!).

Alex, Avi and four others (apologies for not remembering all of your names) arrived at 7am and quickly set to work. They were hard working and very fast, and in just three days they had completed the rough-in, including relocating the breaker panel. They returned twice, at short notice, to complete the project as the drywall and decorations were completed and obtained the electrical inspector's sign-off.

I must say that working with Mapleleaf Electrical was a great unexpected. A good, diligent and honest electrical contractor who did exactly what we agreed to (and in some places more if truth be told) completing the job without charging any more than we had agreed at the outset. To find a contractor like that in this market is rare.

I would gladly work with Alex and the boys again, however I do not wish to tackle another reno anytime soon, so I'll have to content myself with endorsing them to friends and family.

Thank you Mapleleaf Electric.

Knob and Tube Removal

Hi, After purchasing our home, my wife and I hired Mapleleaf Electric to remove all knob and tube from our home. Alex came and provided a quote that was easy to understand and was competitive in price, start time and duration. The crew (Daniella, Sean, Justin and Adolfo) were great - polite, cleaned up every day, kept me informed on progress, etc. and did a great job! Mapleleaf didn't ask for any money up front, they only wanted payment once I was completely satisfied with the work and we received our ESA certificate. This was a big project and Maple Leaf came through for us. I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for electrical work done in their home.

Fix light, Install outlet

I emailed Sean at Mapleleafwho called me back later on in the week and was able to come out the next day. He texted me that morning to say he'd be late, apologizing and then came out when he said he would, which was perfectly understandable. He was able to diagnose the lighting issue (I was relieved it wasn't something obvious, the previous owners had done bad electrical and wires had fused) and soon I had a working light. Next he figured out a neat way to get an outlet on a wall that was surrounded by cinderblocks, it involved chipping away at the block and trenching a line to it. He's very young and that concerned me initially, but very professional, knowledgeable and didn't mind coming out for a small job and charged a fair rate. Great work Sean!

Whole house re-wire

When my wife and I purchased our home, we knew we had to have major electrical work done on it. We had several electricians come to our home to give us a quote on the work. Alex arrived on time (early actually), was very knowledgeable, and while other contractors said major demo work would be needed to do the job, Alex was able to do it with minimal damage. Alex, Avi, Petr, and the whole crew who were on the house spent 5 days working on the home, upgrading the power service to 100 amp, removing the knob and tube, re-wiring the whole home, and adding additional electrical service to it. We were very impressed with how quickly they worked, and the quality of the work they did. It was a major job, and they finished it on time, on budget, and properly. Everything about our experience with MapleLeaf was very positive, and I'll definitely use them again, as well as recommend them to family and friends.

relocate panel & update exterior connections

I hired Alex to relocate my electrical panel inside the house, which also necessitated some updates to the electrical system components on the exterior of the house (update conduit to PVC, etc.).

Alex is very professional, and explained the process and everything that needed to happen clearly. He did the work on time and at the cost quoted. I would highly recommend Alex and his team.
