I had 3 companies to my house to look at project and advise on my concerns about potential problems in removing and replacing asphalt in driveway between 2 houses (driveway met sides of both houses so I was concerned about damages). Remo Sottile addressed my concerns even before I voiced them, (the others did not inspire me with confidence). I had a concern about the garage doors clearing once they paved under the doors; one company said I would have to rehang the doors. Remo assured me this was not a problem; (it wasn't.)
The price was right, the time schedule was as discussed and no damages were done and the driveway looks great! Thanks Remo!

Joe was an excellent guy to deal with from start of the project to the completion. He came to my house and drew out exactly how he was going to do my driveway. The workers were very professional and performed the work quickly and efficiently. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is going to pave their driveway.

These guys have to be the most professional in the business. They told me they would be at my house by 9am and they were! They also gave me a timeline as to when the job would be completed and they completed it within the time frame. To finish it off, the driveway looks wonderful! Geez what a concept, a company that sticks to their word. Thanks guys and great work!

I had York West redo my driveway after I had my sewage connection replaced due to root issue. I called these guys based on the fact that a friend had used them, and the fact that they do nearly all the driveways in my area. I wish I had known about this site first....

Issues with the job:

- They were totally careless when they removed the existing driveway. It seems the ripping out of a phone line is no big deal. Unless of course you need your phone line to do business....

- They were actually able to damage my front porch - and never bothered to repair it. Even after I complained.

- They didn't actually put down the required depth of asphalt that was agreed to. In spots the asphalt it only 1 inch thick.

- They didn't remove all of the old material at the back of the drive...they just put a thin layer over top. One year later? It's failing.

- They paved over one of my clean outs for the mainline. They said they'd come back and mark it so I'd know where it was....still waiting Remo.

- Remo is a great, slick, smooth talking salesmen....and boy - did I ever get sold.

If you need a new driveway - don't call these guys. The price was reasonable I suppose - but the quality of the work was subpar.

York West appears to do 90% of the driveways in our neighbourhood. They were fast on quoting, etc... Unfortunately they did not finish the pavers that led to our walkway even though they promised to do so many times. After call number four they stopped returning phone calls. Wouldn't recommend them.

I extended my driveway needed the old one removed then repaved. The old driveway was removed and taken away I was impressed on how clean my property was left. I was given a first name and was greeted and treated in a very professional manner. The service was quick and hassle free I was given a number to call with any concerns or questions. My driveway is perfect it has been about a year, highly recommended!

We chose York West because they do virtually all of the driveways in our area. Our goal was to widen our driveway by about 2 feet from the end of our front walk (which runs along the side our our garage) to the sidewalk. We were also upgrading the front walk. We are on a pie-shaped lot and our front yard had a small triangle of grass widening out to a large perennial garden. The contract, with diagram, was signed in June 2009.

In August of that year, several weeks after they were supposed to dig up the driveway, York West arrived without warning. We were out of town at the time but our adult daughter was home. They proceeded to dig up our entire front yard in a triagular shape, clearly contrary to the contract and diagram, destroying two 20-year-old rosebushes which were in bloom, hundreds of bulbs, perennials, annuals, grass and native grasses, ornaments, decorative rocks & driftwood and a fledgling tomato plant already bearing fruit. Everything was tossed into the back of their truck. Our daughter tried to stop them but they would not listen to her.

After countless phone calls, emails and publication threats, promises were made to replace that which was destroyed. In the end a credit was given only for the four rose bushes that were lost and we were promised triple mix and sod deliveries the next spring (since it was too late in the 2009 season by this time). In November they sent their subcontractor, Kingsway Landscaping to do the walkway and Kevin and his team did a great job. In December 2009 York West finally paved our driveway. Come spring 2010, we had dandelions growing up through the asphalt, in the centre of the driveway, not just at the edges. Obviously a poor paving job. The driveway was dug up again in 2010 when they were doing other driveways in the neighbourhood and finally paved in July of 2010. Triple mix was delivered a year after it was promised and also after what seemed like hundreds of telephone calls but the sod was never delivered and now I have given up altogether.

York West may enjoy being the biggest game in town but they are not the only game. My recommendation would be to get someone else to pave your driveway.
