Assiniboine Lawns & Landscapes

We are extremely happy with the quality and execution of their work. They went about above and beyond our expectations in the fine details of making sure we were happy with the outcome. They moved our greenhouse, created a level pad with crush and concrete blocks, reworking our paving stones, building our privacy fence for our hot tub. Itgil and Anka knew our vision and made it happen!

Assiniboine's team did exactly what was asked and fit us in despite our request coming very late in the season. They built us garden edging / small timber retaining wall, a french drain for drainage, sourced and installed five trees, some gravel and sod where requested. They were very fast and cleaned up everything before leaving. Very satisfied and would definitely work with them again.

We have a new home construction in Riverstone Cranston on the Bow River. We wanted a top notch company to ensure solid retaining walls and beautiful results. We had a difficult 3:1 slope wide and shallow lot and decided Assiniboine could handle to job. Our project manager was Anka and along with his crew Anka did a first rate job!! The entire process was handled professionally and with great care and attention to detail. The workers were always polite and professional and were there daily until the job was done. Site was always tidied up at the end of each day.
We opted to complete the hard landscaping including all stone work and cedar planters first and will have them back to finish the planting firepit etc. in 2024. Both stone and wood workmanship were top notch! These guys are the best!!

Had a short (highpoint ~2ft tall) but long (~100ft) wooden retaining wall that was rotting and beginning to have holes. Got 4 different quotes to compare and Brandon from Assiniboine did the best job between pricing as well as listening to the different options we asked about(incl providing an option of preserving/re-installing an existing chain link fence to save money). All in all we demo'd the previous wall (thanks Johan!), excavated below grade to install a proper compacted base and sloped drainage, put in the Pisa stone block wall, and re-graded properly with gravel on top for nice long dog run area. They were able to save most of the fence and only 3 new poles were needed which was incl in the original quote. Also signed off on an option of redoing along the back of the house that had dead grass and replaced it with gravel as well and a nice brick border. Tee and Zoob were amazing and did all the wall/backyard/fence work perfectly. The PM Colin was also available anytime and came by sometimes multiple times a day to assist and answer questions. All in all was a great no hassle experience with Assiniboine and it's a good feeling to know they will stand behind their work as well. Great job and happy to recommend them to anyone.

We recently had a garden wall installed in the spring of 2023 by Assiniboine. They estimated the job in Octover 2022; Brandon was very professional and efficient in providing us a very thorough quote which was also the most competitive of the 5 vendors we inquired.

First thing in 2023 once the weather allowed, construction coordinator Anka contacted us and came out for an initial visit to ensure we were fully aligned and then at the first opportunity he and his team were out to do the work. I must say they are one the the most conscientious, hardworking and courteous crews I've seen. And they take a tremendous amount of pride in the final product really going out of their way to make it right. The way our wall abuts the house and sidewalk was done to perfection, even though it required considerable time and effort to shape the stones.

Our small backyard was the victim of a large,rambunctious puppy (He's now grown up and calmed down!). We had a modest budget, and Assiniboine far exceeded our expectations! Everyone -the office staff, estimator, project manager, and crew - was curtious and professional. The crew made sure to check with us before moving/replacing plants, and positioning the new tree and garden stones. We couldn't be happier with our choice of landscaper!

Second time using Assiniboine, had Anka and his crew out to a townhouse we purchased to completely remove old pavers and debris and install paver patio, cedar wall, cedar window cover and steps. Excellent job was done on all aspects, his crew was always working long hard hours and finished the job in record time. The installation of the paving stones was the best job we have ever seen with excellent care and precision. The job site was tough as its a fully enclosed back patio with no machine access and the job site had to be kept clean with no materials left in the back alleyway at all times. Every day the crew would clean up everything and keep noise and mess to a minimum for the
neighbours. Anka and his foreman always had excellent suggestions with regard to materials selection and how to execute items such as enclosing the gaps to keep pets from escaping under the fence, and fix drainage issues in back corner. We couldnt be happier with this job and wouldnt not hesitate to use Assiniboine again. Photos show before and after

I contacted Assiniboine to renovate a section of my 3-tier backyard by removing a small tree, trimming 2 shrubs, removing grass to create a walkway, a large patio and vegetable gardens. The estimator came a week later and I gave him a fixed budget to work with. He came back promptly to suggest a 25' stone walkway, a 15' x 14' patio and 2 vegetable garden areas of 10' x 4' each. He even suggested using the existing paver stones in my yard to use with new bricks for the vegetable garden border to save cost, which I thought was a great idea.

Within a week, the project manager Anka contacted me and discussed about my likes and dislikes, etc. He was able to arrange for his crew to start 3 days before the original scheduled date. On Friday, the day of construction, the crew worked tirelessly ripping up the grass by hand (because my backyard is inaccessible to machineries). Within a day, they were able to prep the area to start laying the bricks the following day. These men worked long hours through the weekend, and during that time we made some minor changes to the design and those guys were very accommodating. In the end, some of the changes resulted in less bricks used and a pallet of bricks was returned to their supplier.

The only unfortunate thing was that this wasn't communicated properly back to their HQ and when the project was completed, I was charged extra for bricks that were not used. However, the company was able to verify this situation quickly with the project manager and the revised charges were then waived without any issue. By Monday, the work was done to my satisfaction.

To be clear, they are not the cheapest landscaper if you shop around. But if you want quality work and a landscaper who sticks to the budget, then Assiniboine is worthy of consideration. Plus, they provide 2 year limited hardscape warranty pertaining to workmanship defects, which I hope I won't have to use!
