Booked Air Makers for an intermittent old furnace issue. Used Homestars to avoid Kijiji. Was told over the phone 75 plus tax gets me furnace troubleshooting, but 89 plus tax gets me maintenance. Tech was on time and had a mask.
Spent less than five min to tell me the furnace is fine, issue with thermostat controls, and said that it would cost me an extra 250 plus installation for a Honeywell "but it will be cheaper to get my own". Tech kept asking "why do you have a Fast Track for the 5th wire" and bounced his head in disbelief.
I asked him to at least do the maintenance and I would pay the 89 bucks - nope, I would have to pay 75 (for the 5 min) plus the 89. Such a disgrace for the HVAC community. I get it that spending 5 min and getting 75 bucks is more efficient than getting 89 bucks and spending another 30 min to clean the water exhaust or check for burner corrosion and such.
One would think in these pandemic times, people would be more understanding. No workaround, no questions answered. He didn't take time to look at the thermostat. Took the money, left me and my two boys in the winter cold.
Called the office to complain, and the sales person said that she didn't receive the report and basically did nothing. I sent them this review and the second business day passed without a response, they don't care. In a market full of choices, I would suggest you choose a more serious company.
I lost 85 bucks and Air Makers did nothing for me. Bought a new thermostat and once I will have it replaced and experience the same issue, will escalate to BBB.
