11 windows, patio door, entrance door replaced

Job had a rough start. Owner of company became involved and concerns were taken care of. Windows were well installed. Now that the job is done, we are quite happy with how things look.

Approximate cost of services:

We chose Comfort King for this job because of our previous experience with the company. We had used them 4 times in the past. Would have given them ten stars then. This time was a completely different experience.

We were told it was a three day job. After ten days, we called the owner and explained our dissatisfaction. After that, he sent three different crews, at the same time, for an afternoon. We thought things were on the right track. They were not.

I spoke with one of the guys who assured me they would be back on Tuesday after the long weekend. No one showed up. When I called, the owner told me he had made the decision to move the crews. This was done with no communication to us.

When I did have the owner out, I pointed out what I thought was damage done to the window sills by the first crew. He told me that they were actually manufacture defects. Still, no one fixed them. I had to do it myself.

The rest of the job was completed in a piecemeal fashion. It did get completed though. Hence the 1 star review.

Throughout the process, I had to insulate my own windows to keep bugs out during weekend breaks. I had to continually remind crews of things that were not done. I had to point out things that needed to be done. (This was often followed by, “I didn’t know that was supposed to be done.”)

Long story short, replacing our windows took approximately 6 and a half weeks. We had to repair manufacture defects on our own and at our own cost, communication was severely lacking, we had to insulate our own windows to avoid being eaten alive by mosquitoes and the job had to be GCed on our own. IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THE SKILLS TO DO THESE THINGS ON YOUR OWN, YOU MAY WANT TO THINK ABOUT USING A DIFFERENT COMPANY. While we would once have recommended Comfort King in a heartbeat, we will now and have already told friends and coworkers to definitely look elsewhere for their window needs.

But as they say, the proof is in the pudding. The job started August 23 I believe. I may be off by a day. Picture 1 was taken August 27. The pic of the missing caulking was taken on September 11. The job finished the first week of October.

Pictures. 1 and 2 are of holes I had to fill when crews left for the evening.

Pictures 3 and 4 are samples of my house 10 working days in to the job.

Picture 5 is of a “manufacture defect” that I have to repair myself.

Picture 7 is of a window I was told was completed. Look carefully to see approximately 15 inches of missing caulking.
